Why we dont 'need' investment

I wouldn't try to. I just think he'd lost his way a bit.

Mind, I also wouldn't deny that he's done well for us so far this season. If he keeps it up, I'd be happy to eat my words.

I was fuming about him last season because of the Wembley performance.

But seriously, if David Moyes got £50m to spend in a transfer window, this squad would be immense.

I constantly switch my blame from Moyes, to Bill, to the banks, to other teams like QPR and MC overheating the market, and then back to Moyes. We wouldn't need much investment to catapult this side up the league. All we need is someone with a bit of money, like, say Paul McCartney...

He's got a great eye for a player.

I'm not completely convinced by his lineups, his tactics, his man management, his handling of youth and that he knows when to sell or even that he always strengthens the right areas but boy does he have an eye for a player.

Very few in the world better at it.

I think all his managerial traits are all a result of him knowing the financial situation of Everton. If he had more money, I firmly believe he would become a little bit more creative, but he would still be the hard-ass man manager.

With the transfer money we get, I can't see anyone else managing Everton better. When Spurs were apparently in for him, I started thinking about what would happen if he left. Then, I got scared.

Look at Pardew. Great signings by him last season, but imagine if Moyes had that type of money.

The team needs to generate more cash, one way or another. Just because others waste it (Villa, Sunderland etc) doesn't mean we can go without.

Honestly I think the idea that he's the only manager working under those restrictions is naive. There are whole leagues which work under much tougher financial restrictions where any half decent player will leave before they hit 20 and have to be replaced. And any one who has managed one of the 'other' teams in spain is up against much greater financial disparity.

Ah, so earlier you were implying because I had a different opinion to you I must not go to games and now you're implying it's because I haven't been to enough games.

Fair enough, mate. You tell me what to think from now on and I'll just mimic your opinion. Wouldn't think of disagreeing with my betters.

I never implied that you weren't a match goer I merely stated the fact that your 'Moyes out' stance was in the minority amongst match goers - your reaction speaks volumes though.

Never tried to imply that he is the only manager working under strict financial conditions. It is only naive because we have no evidence otherwise of a different Everton manager under these finances and in the Premier League (the way it is today). There is more than likely a manager out there that would do better than Moyes, but there is definitely plenty of others that would do worse. I'd prefer to keep Moyes than take a risk on another gaffer.

But finding that right man is the hard part. Maybe... Klopp!

It prompts the question, do we really need investment? Good management financially coupled with the pending financial fair play rules could work in our favour without having to get anyone in. If we keep producing through the youth team then we simply cant go wrong with our current policy, the chances of getting bad investment is a lot higher than getting good investment so no investment at all could be the best answer.

Agreed. I reckon if we sold all our best players, and had no money to replace them we'd piss the league. Make it so Bill.

That's basically it, Moyes will never get us relegated and I also think he'll never win us a trophy. Do you accept that mediocraty, then, do you twist or stick?

I decided last year that I wanted to twist just because the early season football was so awful, the treatment of the kids so depressing and the derby results so painful that I wanted to twist just because I'd rather finish 14th having a go than 7th with his cowardly safety first risk adverse boring style.

But he hasn't been boring or cowardly in these two games so maybe I was stupid to lose faith.

Start of last season was tough. The timing of the turnaround was familiar, but not the method. The season turned around when Donovan, Jelavic and Pienaar were brought in. He has a forward thinking deep lying midfielder with Gibson.

He's gone out before this season and added Pienaar, Naismith and Mirallas. This team looks absolutely nothing like the one that started last campaign. One that relied on Seamus Coleman running really fast.

Last year's start is down to having a lack of talent. Perhaps you can pin that on Moyes to an extent, but there are certainly outside factors controlling that.

It's only two games so we haven't seen all the evidence. But the squad has been completely transformed.

Mate, that is all fair enough. I've been there, and will probably be there again. But this season makes me feel like Moyes has finally built the side he has always wanted to. He has had decent squads in the past and also been shattered by injuries, but this team at the moment just seems like the final act in a long building process.

Been saying that for, oh, 15-18 years now and still it hasn't happened...

That's true until it isn't.

The football bubble will burst when the bigger bubble bursts as well. Football will be far down on our priorities then, however.

Enjoy it while times are good. You may laugh, but days like today are something we'll look fondly back upon someday. maybe I'll be gone by the time it all goes up, but that's not the way I'm playing it.

Dunno mate the chinese are getting quite into football. Maybe our overlords will give us a few hours off every week to watch the game.
