Wildlife in your Garden

I was just cutting the lawn in my back garden and a frog jumped out and hopped to the border. It got me thinking about the creatures i’ve seen in my garden.

I live in West Derby which is a suburb of Liverpool and i’ve been in this house for over 30 years. I reckon i’ve witnessed;

- general British garden birds, but more unusually I have seen quite a few hawks and a heron. I’ve also observed Hedgehogs, squirrels, a rat, a dead field mouse, cats, frogs, dogs and next doors tortoise.

There is so much geographical diversity on here, not just in the U.K. but across the globe and I thought it would be a fascinating insight to see what wildlife others get visiting their gardens. I recall @LinekersLegs mentioning deers in her California garden, I wonder if @TheFinnFan truly sees seal cubs and I dread to think what our Aussie friends witness!!!

So where do you live and what creatures do you see?
Saw my neighbour walk through my garden one time. He presumably didn't think I was home,had left my car at work. Oh,and some other badgers

Birds, mostly. Though what was weird a couple weeks ago when it was warmer, there was this swarm of wasps having a pool party at the birdbath. Just walking around the edges, going for a dip now and then. For two days they were there, the party animals. Birds didn't go near it.

Your obviously no photographer either Tipp. lol lol Really can't tell from that pic, but is that nest made of mud? Looks like it. If so, it's more likeley to be a swallow or house martin. Try for a better pic tomorrow ;)
Had to google a house sparrow, I've seen them around they're sound enough, I don't like them things on the house whatever they are, it's one subject that I have no interest in, never had and doubt I ever will.

Excellent thread subject Eggs.
We get loads of birds in our garden, largely due to us having over 20 feeders and two tables that we constantly top up with sunflower seed and peanuts.
Our pond is great for attracting dragonflies and damselflies and a myriad of other insects. Frogs live us with constantly, we've even re-aligned the poolside paving so that there's a safe area underneath where they live when it gets colder. And we have a pair of mallards who regularly visit the garden to swim and feed in the pond.
Hedgehogs, rabbits and foxes visit too, they seem to like the seed, peanuts and dog biscuits we put out for them.
The downside is the number of grey squirrels who are a damned nuisance, they wreck the feeders given half a chance, greedy little sods.

They certainly can be a nuisance on the feeders. Never yet found a 'squirrel proof' feeder that actually works for long.
Entertaining in their own way though

Arizona...mainly lizards, cottontail rabbits, gophers, quail, lovebirds (they've exploded around here and they're not native so someone must have let loose a couple or they escaped the phoenix zoo a couple miles away), hummingbirds, g'damn pigeons, great-tailed grackles, cactus wrens, doves, woodpeckers etc. There's a hawk of some sort that shows up sometimes on a telephone pole about 3 houses away and an owl that makes itself known at night.
