Wildlife in your Garden

House sparrows are Kopites. I'm having a running battle with one that's trying to build right above the front door, every evening I get a 2 by 1 and knock down what they've built, they built it there last year and there was sh1t all over where we had to walk out. No nest this year bitch3s

I’d love to have them nesting in ours mate, they’re lovely little things.

One of my mates used to live on an old farm and I made a high rise nest box for him - a massive nest box, with loads of compartments for them,

It was full in a matter of days ;)

Just put up a nesting box in a suitable site nearby before next spring ;)
There's a bunch of them on one side of the house and I'll just leave them but not the ones over the front door. I'll get those spikes that you screw on the wall for next year.

I'm sure they are ace.
But at 2am when I'm letting me dogs out for a slash and they start ragging them around, im not standing in my garden in my bills getting soaked and covered in hedgehog blood anymore.
I tried having a spy and seeing if I could spot them without success. They must stink to a dogs nose as once I open the door they are off like lightning to get them.

I used to take them out for a late night walk before I moved, but no chance of me doing that where I live now.
Time to get rid of the dogs bro

....when I was a kid somebody told me sparrows were baby pigeons and my dad said Dixie Dean was so good in the air that he scored a penalty with his head.

No wonder i’m gullible now.

Cheshire, lots of nocturnal happenings, which could be the locals, but plenty of birds of varying types, including 6 this year who have used my front window as the culmination of a kamikaze mission.
Everything is harmonious, like wind in the willows, until 2 gangster magpies showed up, evil gits they are.
We have rabbits, occassional fox, squirrels, frogs and arachnids wearing bikers jackets. It's luverly ,)

I didn't mention my pond, stack full of tadpoles, last years juvenile frogs, newts, and oarsman/boatsm.
My wife has left a type of "set-aside" area around all the lawns which then get crickets or grasshoppers, not sure which.
It is amazing what you can do, when we moved here 5 years ago, the previous old lady had basically had it all concreted over for low maintenance reasons, now, it litterally teeming with wildlife.
Mad really

Well, I live in Texas. So far in my back yard, I've seen the following:
Snakes x 3 (not sure if there's any cotton mouths or water moccassins, but big long green one, couple of diamond backed looking things).
Birds - Herons, Cranes, Blue Cranes, Hawks, Eagles and my favourite - the bright red Cardinal.
Rabbits
Frogs/Toads
Secada's - I know it's not spelt right but these things are like crickets and they make a noise and a half!
Lizards - I like it when they get incensed with me and bring the bright red thing out that sits under their chin.
