Wildlife in your Garden

Love me some San Diego - spent 18months flying there every week from Houston. Did a bit of work with Jack in the Box on Balboa ave.
Yeah its a great city. It's mad the changes from my first visit in 2006 to when i moved here some years later.

The Gaslamp quarter has really changed downtown from vacant warehouses and commercial to a vibrant city. The ballpark sort of helped that too and too think they werent going to build it at one point.

I know balboa avenue well. So jack in the box as in the restaurant chain? They are very popular here

I was just cutting the lawn in my back garden and a frog jumped out and hopped to the border. It got me thinking about the creatures i’ve seen in my garden.

I live in West Derby which is a suburb of Liverpool and i’ve been in this house for over 30 years. I reckon i’ve witnessed;

- general British garden birds, but more unusually I have seen quite a few hawks and a heron. I’ve also observed Hedgehogs, squirrels, a rat, a dead field mouse, cats, frogs, dogs and next doors tortoise.

There is so much geographical diversity on here, not just in the U.K. but across the globe and I thought it would be a fascinating insight to see what wildlife others get visiting their gardens. I recall @LinekersLegs mentioning deers in her California garden, I wonder if @TheFinnFan truly sees seal cubs and I dread to think what our Aussie friends witness!!!

So where do you live and what creatures do you see?
Apart from what you have named we get Pheasant and Woodpeckers. Very funny to see a Woodpecker demolish one of the seed balls you put out for the birds...Nuke to a gunfight! We also had cows but that was when they barged through the wall from field next door. On the edge of Holmfirth.

...lovely part of the world.

Gas lamp is a blast! Been out there quite a few night.

And yes Jack in the Box - the restaurant chain. Good times!

Loved going to Eddie V’a and George’s at the Cove in La Jolla.

Funny story about La Jolla, stayed at a hotel there and got so messed up, couldn’t get in from the rooms balcony, ended up calling reception, turned out nothing was locked at all, I’d just let my brain turn to mush momentarily.

Live in the South - East in a place called Wokingham now mate, Berkshire. I remember going to rhs Wisley gardens, and there were loads of them all over the gaff there.

I can't see many of them getting to where I'm originally from (Page Moss, Huyton) mate, they'll just get eaten by the locals!
Same here mate grew up in Huyton did you ever go over into Lord Derbys massive estate as a kid an amazing place full of all kinds of wildlife he had the full works used to spends hours in there till you got seen and chased out by the gamekeepers and I mean you got chased .They had the China gardens in there what a place it had the full works from rivers with little bridges going across them as a kid we had never seen anything like it and the wildlife was amazing

Plenty of wildlife in the mutzo garden.

Hedgehogs, squirrels, the occasional pheasant. As for birds we see your usual garden types (sparrow, blackbird) lots of tits (bit like GOT).

The more unusual birds I’ve seen in the garden are nuthatches (they eat upside down). Tree creeper and bullfinch.

Stick out some black sunflower hearts and you’ll see flocks of goldfinch arrive - they love em.
