Wildlife in your Garden

They're not as common as they used to be, like so many of our native birds, their numbers have decreased in recent years.
It's one of the reasons we feed as much as we do in our garden, to try and help the birds we have survive the colder weather and rear their young in the springtime.

We've a small "back green" which we look down on with binoculars! Lots of shrubs and little trees. It's a pleasure to observe goldfinches and great tits etc. Too many magpies though!

The Magpie is a beautiful bird, but they can be a nuisance as they take eggs from nests and they try to bully Jays. Since we've had the Buzzard coming regularly into our garden, the Magpies have been greatly subdued.
Our biggest nuisance is there being too many feral pigeons that have cottoned on to the availability of food we put out.

Yes they can be nasty birds.

Jays can be predatorial, but if you make peanuts readily available for them, they tend to concentrate on feeding on them than bothering the little birds.

We’ve got the lot by us, Jays, Magpies, Crows, Jackdaws and Grey Squirrels.

I’m surprised anything survives at all !

Squirrels, foxes, no doubt a rat or two (not seen any thankfully but they will deffo be around obviously) loads of normal birds and a heron.

Likewise mate and the worst of the lot are the squirrels, they're an absolute pain in the rear end.
They're destructive and are way too abundant.
