Wildlife in your Garden

Seen field mice several times in the 'wildlife' part of the garden. They rarely stay still long enough for a photo. . . But
About 20 minutes ago

Saw a kestrel on a fence just down the road. Was able to stand just a few metres from it for a while. Normally they’re pretty timid. The colours on it close up were amazing.

Seeing more Song Thrushes than I’ve seen for years.

Which is great news, as round by mr they’d all buy disappeared.

Mate found a Kingfisher in his garden this week. Unfortunately couldn't keep it alive but strange to see a bird like that away from the water. They're beautiful and way smaller than I thought.

Yeh tiny beck near his house. Thinks it flew into a window.

Stunning colours on them, they almost look lit up when you see them flying.

....not sure if it’s associated with the ‘lockdown’ but there seems plenty of rats about. I’ve seen a few in my garden of late as have neighbours on both sides of the road and now my son who lives nearby has unwelcome visitors.

Rats tend to come out at night and naturally shy away from humans.
If you are seeing them regularly during the day that is a sign of an infestation. They need getting rid of, sharpish.
They reach sexual maturity in just 5 weeks. Each female can have up to five litters a year with anything between six and fourteen young per litter.

...horrible things. I’ve only seen either very early morning or early evening. Thankfully none for a week, I think they were under a shed a few doors down. Still, there seems more reports and perhaps it’s a consequence of less people being around.
