Mate found a Kingfisher in his garden this week. Unfortunately couldn't keep it alive but strange to see a bird like that away from the water. They're beautiful and way smaller than I thought.

Is there a stream or a pond near by, as you never normally see them away from water ?

....not sure if it’s associated with the ‘lockdown’ but there seems plenty of rats about. I’ve seen a few in my garden of late as have neighbours on both sides of the road and now my son who lives nearby has unwelcome visitors.
Rats tend to come out at night and naturally shy away from humans.
If you are seeing them regularly during the day that is a sign of an infestation. They need getting rid of, sharpish.
They reach sexual maturity in just 5 weeks. Each female can have up to five litters a year with anything between six and fourteen young per litter.
