Wildlife in your Garden

Likewise mate and the worst of the lot are the squirrels, they're an absolute pain in the rear end.
They're destructive and are way too abundant.

They`re rats with tails.

A couple of years ago the local wildlife group put up dozens of bird boxes that they`d made themselves in the woods by us.

The squirrels gnawed into every single one that was occupied and got the chicks / eggs.

People seem to think because they look cute, they are cute. They`re nothing but pests and need to be properly culled.

Couldn't agree more.
We caught one in a rat trap a few days ago, left its carcass out for the Buzzard.

Rats have tails.

In recent weeks, have taken to putting peanuts and dog biscuits out on our front lawn each night.
Hedgehogs are now coming every night to eat the peanuts and between 2am and 4am, we get one or two foxes coming for the dog biscuits.
Will try and get a photo, great to see foxes. We think it's a vixen and a cub rather than two adults.
It’s taken a while, but here’s the fox who visits our garden. Usually comes during the night so must be hungry to come in the afternoon

If you enjoy bird watching like I do, here is a free website to track the birds you see and can search what others are seeing/reporting in your area of the world.

Your sightings help bird researchers monitor the health of birds in your area. It is run by Cornell University's School of Ornithology.

One time, I spotted a rare bird in my yard and entered my sighting on the website. A biologist from the State of Nevada contacted me to confirm the sighting. It was only the 7th sighting of that species in Nevada. Pretty cool!

Happy Bird Watching!

.....saw a rat on the garden fence yesterday, can’t stop rodent watching now. Been all around the back of the shed and corners of the garden and I’m sure it’s not in ours but it was horrible.

in contrast, saw what was probably a kestrel this morning. Stunning. Perhaps the kestrel caught the rat.
