That is late. Normally see them in the NE in mid April. Hours Martins mid May. You seen any swifts?

Saw a couple of House Martins last week, but no Swift’s yet. They’re always the last to arrive though.

The weather ain’t good for the fledglings - gone from a pro longer dry spell, to freezing at night and now very wet.

It’s come at just the wrong time for the likes of Barn Owls, as they fledge their chicks around about now. Their feathers can’t handle the rain, which means they can’t hunt and the chicks starve / the first born eats the rest of the brood to survive.
 

Think it might be this - an american insect so not sure what it is doing in Ireland
