It's not just that - it's having the ability to move James central against weaker opposition have Richarlison/Zaha either side with DCL up front.

With Allan/Doucoure you have the legs to have two in midfield without the holding player then.

It's all about options. Being able to counter attack when needed and break teams down when needed.

Holgate can play right back too, so don’t really think it’s a priority personally.

It wouldn't be much of a question any more. It'd be as sure as it comes that we'd be in amongst the top 4. We'd blow teams away with those players to choose from.

It probably sounds daft after what I've just said, but I still wouldn't sign Zaha for the prices touted. Financially it's too much of a risk after already adding Allan & Hamez. Of course, that's based on the assumption we don't have ridiculous sums of cash available. If Uzzie's pot of gold is genuinely readily available to us, I can see few other targets who would make as much sense.

We're not interested in late bids. If it was going to happen, it would need to be in a timeframe that we could do something with the money generated.
Nothing has made me believe other than he loves his football, and I'd like for him to continue that here.
Wilf got the armband after being the most senior and deserving, but don't read too much into him being the captain - Luka will be when he comes back.
Wilf doesn't need that. He knows where his place is and what he needs to do, he doesn't need the captain's armband to do that.

What the team loses in midfield control is more than compensated by a Zaha, Calvert-Lendowski,Richy front line.

They want the same fee as last year - the only way I can see it happening if we offload two duds input a bit of cash in a part exchange deal........
