Transfer Rumour William Carvalho

.....or Carvalho next to Besic.
Is that not slightly too defensive? Akin to how Martinez played Barry and McCarthy fulfilling similar roles?

While I think Besic could be more offensive if given the right mentorship (he's certainly good enough on the ball), I don't think he's there yet.

If Carvalho does in fact join us, then I think we need someone slightly more creative, flamboyant and forward thinking in the middle of the park.

Witsel?

Barkley.

Well yes that was my thought, but regardless of what people may say I still think his capture is far from certain because of interest from others.

Barkley could be a stop-gap measure (like Newcastle last season), and if Gylfi or Mata do emerge then Ross may be pushed into the role.

Yet ideally someone along the lines of Witsel would ideally fulfil that role, as I think Ross can still develop further up the pitch.

By the way Carvhalo is alot more forward thinking as you put it than people give him credit for. He can play a killer pass thats for sure.

Barkley is not good enough in a pure midfield role. Not even close. If he's playing, it has to be behind the striker. We shouldnt play him just because he's Ross Barkley, thats just dumb.

I could not disagree more. The lad can easily play in middle of the park with good players with him.
Have you not seen how often he looses the ball in front of our defence and puts preassure on them when he plays that role? Barkley is good at his thing, but bossing the midfield isnt his thing at all.

I think a midfield three of Barkley, Carvalho and Witsel would be fantastic. Barkley played well on Saturday, I know against lower league but he played deeper and actually won the ball for a change.
