Wolves fan here. Very interesting to read comments about today's game on this forum, as I was at the match. I thought Everton were really poor, even when they had 11 men. It was a bit like playing a mid table championship team who got a bit lucky. I thought that our passing and movement were another class compared with you guys. Were you folks really watching the same match?

You passed it well but mostly in areas that couldn't hurt us until the last twenty when you did start to squeeze us and play faster slicker football, Neves was your best player by a mile. You were lucky to get the draw to be honest our keeper was barely troubled, you moved the free kick(which was a good one), it wasn't a red card. In all honesty with eleven we would have run out 1-3 winners. You didn't put us under enough pressure we controlled the game even with ten men largely. Anyway best of luck for the new season I think you will grow into the league.

Wow, you know nothing about football. Wolves were dire for the most part, Neves being the one exception.

I think the point you and others are missing ( and when we had it happen i was exactly the same ) about the red is it doesnt matter these days if you win the ball first. If you connect with any real force to your opponent, its a red. And yes, i agree its ridiculous, but its how it is now.

I'm not asking anyones forgiveness, and despite any bias i have, i'm just saying Neves would still have had just as good a chance of scoring from 5 yards further back anyway. It wouldnt be any different with any player who strikes the ball like he does. It wouldnt have fazed Beckham or Baggio for example.

Dont think at the moment we should be changing our expectations either. Its one game so far, after 10 games you may have a point and we have to reassess. Most of our support would be happy and be looking at around that 10th place spot. Our owners though have huge ambitions, and they have the final clout to make it happen. Probably not as fast as they would like with FFP, but there arent many clubs in England who can all on owners who can back the club financially as we can.

Don't fancy swapping him for Sigurdsson do you!!!

Think we will have to wait until he puts in his match report. I've had a look myself and cant find anything official yet about what the red is for. If you have a link to it can you share it?

Cant agree with you mate about the distance the wall was away. Yep, it didnt have any negative effect on us, but it still doesnt change the fact the ball and the wall weren't set right by the ref. I'm not sure i'd actually call that breaking the rules when its the match official thats supposed to deal with those things. Even though the ball wasnt in the right spot, Pawson not setting the wall properly made Neves job harder given he had less distance to get the ball up and over the wall. Makes me wonder if in the referees review they pull them up for basic things like that.

But that has absolutely no effect on anything. We're talking about things that actually had an effect on the game because they actually matter. Whether Neves' job was easier or harder is utterly irrelevant as the shot went in and was taken from the wrong place.

No way were we dire. We played some half decent stuff, but we weren't as adventurous as i'd expect us to be and we seemed pretty nervous. I'd be pretty dissapointed though if after 10 games we were still playing like we did yesterday. I know we are a lot better than that. I'm not worried in the slightest though about surviving. Think we will stay up comfortably.

I can understand the ref seeing it as a foul on the instant. Fast play, crowd baying, player clutching his ankle, loud screech etc
At the time I thought it was an ok last ditch tackle.
Having the benefit of replays I still do. Jags gets to the ball, which is clearly his intention, and the lads ankle gets hit after that. Absolutely no doubt it was painful for Joto but he got the ball.
Excessive force, nope. He has to go for the ball.it's the amount of force he needed to get to the ball. It's not like he ran halfway across the pitch.
Goal scoring opportunity is not right either as joto doesnt even have the ball, it's s loose ball from jags miscontrol.what's he supposed to do .....say "after you"?
Poor refereeing. Cost us the game.
I wonder if we had VAR what the decision would have been?

I dont think VAR would have made much difference mate. Looking at its how its implemented in other sports, they would break it down to absolute technicalities and find something wrong somewhere.

Watched a bit of him last season, lad is a huge talent, if he keeps it up one of the big teams around Europe will break the bank to sign him up.

He is. When you see him you can just tell he is going to be a real star.

Mind you, considering you lot have spent over 300 million on players in the last 14 months, i'm sure you might be able to come up with the money we would want for him :D

Ian Wright the only pundit on MOTD with common sense. Shearer cowardly hiding behind 'its the law' and just ignoring the 16 cart wheels and taking the free kick from wherever the guy wanted to take it from.

Abysmal officiating from the Ref for the red card that was never a red car in a million years and for the player taking the free kick from 5 yards closer which makes a massive difference for a free kick that close to the box. Basically just took it from where his preferred and practised position. Refs may as well just throw away their cans of paint if they aren't going to bother using them for such important game changing moments like that. Going to be yet another season of poor Refs influencing results with poor officiating.

Okay if they go our way like.

We weren't great, but we were ok. We'll get better as the season goes on.
I'm not sure you were watching the same game either. Your passing was basic and slow. Movement? You didn't move us around enough when we had 10 men. You never exploited the extra space. Neves (who does look good) was the only one I was concerned about. Not sure what else you've got.
You did well to scramble a point against a mid table championship team with 10 men in the end. So lots to be proud of there.
Well done.
