Women's Euro 2022

They are very white. Off the top of my head I think Nikita Parris is the only black player in the squad.

I think that's purely just how it is though. England have had plenty of black players in the past, even had a black manager. No idea why so few black (or other background) players are coming through in the current crop but these are pretty much the 23 best English players currently regardless.
Exactly.

It's a poor critique. Publishing it was a major mistake.

England have done brilliantly, it'a great to see people getting behind them and they are a very good side.

That said I hope Germany get through and CRUSH them on Sunday.

If France win tomorrow then meh, may the best team win.

I just don't get the fuss. I just watched a 4-0 game that was... dull. Fair play, there is a welcome and noticeable absence of the type of cheating we see in the men's game, but the skill levels and athleticism are largely mediocre.

Other women's sports, like tennis, hockey, rugby and lacrosse, are far more entertaining IMHO, because the skill levels are higher.
The skill levels have shot through the roof in the last 5 years or so. This is an unrecognisable game from then.

These are the best women footballers in Europe. The level IS the level.

There is plenty of skill in the women's game anyway. The third goal for example was a belter. There is however a bigger disparity in good and not so good moments. I like that, keeps it interesting.

I also find you get more enjoyment from any sport if you know who the players are and what the stories are etc, A vested interest always makes sports better. It's why people support lesser teams etc.

Also have you seen us for the past few decades? Skill levels cant be that important to you!

Who is it, as i know a lot of the Girls and the team, and who we sign, let go etc way before its said in the open
No one really special just a free lance photographer/journo but she's covering a lot of female footballers/rugby players as a career move away from teaching.

She concentrated on Northern female teams last season one of which was Everton which was predominant. I believe that our social media used some of the footage captured.

Anyone involved offers something.

I just got back from the states and I can't believe how more advanced the US female teams are compared to the UK.

I think it's to do with the culture and mentality of other backgrounds. Other backgrounds have a more traditional mindset and expect the women to be family oriented and raise their kids. Whilst playing women's football, you are essentially sacrificing your 20s by not having any kids and that's most likely not seen positively by many cultures. It's the same story with why you rarely see any Eastern European or Balkan nations (Poland, Czechia, Greece, Croatia etc) at these Women's Euros and why it's exclusively Western European nations because these countries are very progressive.

Genuine question: what level of football in the men's game could these elite women's player play at? Divison 2 or 3? Not higher I dont think.
Not even that.

It's not to do with the ability it's the power and speed.

I know in Germany girls tend to play in boys teams (or mixed teams I suppose) til about 13 years old just fine and then the differences kick in and they start splitting into different groups.

I know a player I follow is dating a lower league German footballer and he said that she is way better technique wise than he will ever be and can put a ball on a sixpence (or 6 Euro I suppose...) every single time. but he could just bully her on the pitch which is the major difference.

The two really shouldn't be compared.

Its probably money too. The money is not in the Polish or Czech games but they do have decent sides and some quality players (Dudek and Votikova at PSG, Pajor at Wolfsburg for example).

It's only recently changed in the west too. I think it was last year where a rule was passed where women can go on maternity leave in their career and get paid. I know Melanie Leupolz (Chelsea and Germany) and Almuth Shult (Germany and Wolfsburg) did that. Amel Majri of Lyon did it too.

This is where the fuss came in with Norway and the US teams. Everyone assumed the girls wanted equal club pay etc compared to the men which is never going to happen, what they did want is equal compensation for being on international duty which I think is fair as their wages are nowhere near as high.

Most of the girls are going through Uni during their playing careers as they need something at the end of it.

The big difference to make up would be tackling. You dont see that much physical confrontation in the women's game: slide tackles and stuff like that.

But physicality is gradually being taken out of the game. In the near future we'll have a game where heading isn't allowed either. There will be a time in the next decade when the gap is a lot nearer between elite men's and women's players; but right now I still would back a few of these players to cut it at a lower level division.

If anything out these euros, we get more publicity from within the UK. It seems to be young families which are more the avid supporter of woman's football. Granted I'm only in my early 40s but it feels alien in the sense me swigging a beer and having a pie in a stadium watching it. That's my association to the sport on the whole, mates comrades etc..

I'm not being sexiest or anything like that BTW maybe the younger generation will adopt to it a fair bit quicker.

That said tonight by my own admission or the 2nd half more specifically has changed my view and fair play to them I did enjoy it.

As per my previous post I have started to look more into our womans team and do follow on all my social media streams.

Yeah maybe, there is still going to be speed and shot power though.

Tomorrows game could be quite physical. France and Germany are very physical teams.

I have been intrigued reading recently about why there are so many ACL injuries in women's football, mainly to do with how a woman is built. It's mad how common they are. Thankfully it's not a career ender these days normally.

I hope they go on and win this now, not the least reason being it'll make a holy show of the over-hyped English mens team and their hopeless manager...and the fans are good natured too...unlike the barbarian filth who follow the men's team.

Intersting that. Is there injuries they dont suffer as much from? I could imagine so.
