3 brilliant goals, 1 goal that shows you never stop chasing. Sam Kerr’s finish was great but that pass from Hemp was so, so good for the third. Finish wasn’t bad either.

Fingers crossed they can go one step further. We’ll have Lauren James back to come off the bench should we need her. I’m quietly confident but being an Everton fan has taught me to expect the worst.

Really pleased for them. I've known a few of the US players over the years but the latest crop needed putting in their place and the fact England have helped do that has me smiling from ear to ear. Also want to say that Tori Penso had a great game as well and delighted for her and her husband Chris that they have had this moment. Isn't it nice to see a referee defuse a moment by smiling?

C'mon England, you've won the SheBelieves Cup under Phil Neville, the Euros under Sarina Wiegman and now you have the opportunity to win the big one. Fantastic progress over the last four years. OK, 2020 was a slight set back but that was normal in a covid world and I beleive it was important to the development of the team to step back and reflect. Time to bring it home!

coverage starts (BBC) on Sunday morning at 10am so 11am KO? seems due to wrap up at 1:30pm, so could be quite the set up for our villa game.

Sorry lads but some of you celebrating now, shamelessly piggybacking onto reflected glory, have openly mocked women’s football on this very forum before.

Not in your world you misogynistic pigs, you know who you are. You have until sundown to fess up or the vaults shall open and thee shall pay.

Just read a Guardian (Oz version) review of the game and they are stressing the overly physical approach of the England players as a kind of back-handed compliment. I thought the England team looked very nervous in the opening period and there were a couple of mistimed tackles, but I didn't think they generally roughed them up. If anything, I thought certain players looked tired and were struggling with the pace of the Aussies.

One of the few things that has annoyed me about this tournament has been the exaggeration of physical contact.

I agree there were a couple of bad tackles at the beginning but they were mistimed. The only team I would describe as overly physical would be Germany who you often see deliberately leaving their foot in and look like they're genuinely trying to hurt opposition players.
