How would this be received in England? Starting to see a little more of this in the states but it’s a slow burn. Given the analytics nerds that get jobs as managers and American football head coaches, why not someone like Wiegman who actually seems to know the game?

I think it’s a huge risk because the womens game is still worlds apart from the mens game.

You’d have to be doing it for the right reasons.

Maybe it could work on an international level, but mens football is still operating on such a bigger level that it seems like too much of a step up.

I’m not one who thinks the games are the same. They are not. If they were, there wouldn’t be a women’s game at all. But the general concepts, tactics, management ability hold at least to a certain extent. You don’t have to have played at the highest level to manage at the highest level.

For the time being, there is a lot less media toxicity surrounding the women's football. Let Wiegman build a dynasty and the ladies enjoy their success. Don't need the entitlement of the chaps turning up to ruin the party.

The best part of not being the men's footie coach is that you don't have to deal w/ men.

Sure the pay is better but you'll be have your millions, while not having to deal w/ press seems and you get to actually win. Come say 2035 so you can enter semi-retirement and take the realms of a relative non-descript league 2 side like uh, everton. Yeovil or something.

They're only worlds apart because men are generally faster and stronger. I don't see why she would be any different from a tactical or coaching point of view at all. She's evidently better than Phil Neville and he was hours away from managing Messi!

There's a such a variety in men's coaches anyway. She's probably more clued up on contemporary styles of play and coaching than the likes of Allardyce and Benitez are. Yet they get thrown a few million every few years to have a go at premier league football.

I have absolutely not a shred of doubt in my mind that she’s got better tactical knowledge and in-game management than Southgate.
