When I click on the BBC website this pops up as the lead story. It's also got that live update thing than genuinely serious events get, like the war in Ukraine and the cable car rescue the other day. Unbelievable overreaction to a guy doing something stupid.

Six separate links on the BBC Football page related to this story as well, is that really necessary?
Absolutely this. How this incident has come to be the lead item on BBC news for days is a mystery to me.

The Spanish FA having a nightmare here. Handling Kissgate about as well as Everton handle a transfer window.

I admit, at first glance I thought it wasn't too bad and that the woman involved was a willing participant, but her comments immediately afterwards and the seeming forced statement backtracking, left a very sour taste in the mouth and completely changed my mind.

thats what she said

please don't tell @chrismpw
@Mrbluenose has a point. One stupid act by one stupid man ... who should be publicly humiliated in the same way that she was by him .... results in several stories on the same website. Over-representation?

Has anybody died? No. Anybody been burgled? No. Anybody had their lifestyle destroyed or life savings robbed? No. Is the victim likely to be requiring psychological support? Only if all the outraged observers start telling her how awful her experience was, how she must have been violated and create an enormous clucking fuss.
In reality, right now she's possibly sat in a cafe or bar reliving the game over a coffee and laughs with friends or family, not a care in the world, while the media create a storm of outrage.

I mean - it was outrageous what the clown did and he deserves all the flack he gets - but swamping a news feed?

People at the BBC have an agenda to push, only explanation I can come up with.
There’s a far larger story here though isn’t there though. And it clearly has people interested and clicking. Rightly or wrongly, news agencies won’t run with conflicts like Ukraine as the headline every day.
If the guy had just apologised and resigned it would have been a relatively small footnote.

His refusal to admit to any wrong doing proves he’s an opportunistic disgusting creep.
Well, if he was squeaky clean he'd have instantly apologised as soon as he realised his spur of the moment joy was inappropriate and unwelcome. A man with no other intentions would have put his hands up in horror after overstepping a mark he didn't spot until after the damage was done. This guy has doubled down though - and there's no way a full squad of players is refusing to play over an inappropriate, but innocent, indiscretion.

I can only surmise that there is a lot more than meets the public eye to date, and that the players feel this is but the latest in some pattern of behaviour. I fully expect we'll start to hear about this behaviour over the coming days...

Funny how those who had off comments about the women's world cup now also think its an over-reaction that people are criticising the bloke and his association.
The criticism is justified, the guy is clearly a tool.

The overreaction is the amount of coverage this is getting, and the perceived severity of what he did.

The story on the BBC today has the phrase "sexual violence" in its title....

The guy's mother is now on hunger strike 🤣

How more ridiculous can this thing get.

In a more sane world the guy would have apologised immediately, the women would have accepted his apology and no one would have bated an eye lid.
You're assuming it's just about the kiss rather than the kiss being a symptom of a much bigger issue.

Trying the reverse psychology thing, everyone saw it on camera, so why he is telling lie's and making out he didnt do stuff, when its well known he has done a few bad things in the past, i dont know. He has cousins coming out the church saying tell to thuth to the spanish womens player
