Indeed.

Maybe he genuinely got caught up in the emotion of the occasion and did something stupid and unwelcome/inappropriate.

Maybe it belies a deeper sense of entitlement and attitude towards women.

Maybe it's a combination of both.

But claiming it was consensual and failing to publicly acknowledge why grabbing a woman and kissing her is problematic, particularly as a man in a position of power, is as much a problem as the initial act.
That and the actions of the Spanish FA to fabricate supposed consent in order to support him, while also threatening legal action against any players who stand up against him. The situation has shown that the whole edifice is rotten to the core.

I genuinely believe he doesnt think he has done anything wrong, which says a lot about the attitudes to women that are still entrenched in football, sports and society.

People are shocked that its only a kiss, how has it caused an outcry and its been blown way out of proportion.

Those same people would be humiliated and disgusted if they had just reached the pinnacle of their career and he kissed them on the mouth in front of the whole world. I dare any male on this forum to dispute that. Also, imagine some random man doing that to your wives/girlfriends in the street. Its disgusting

Which makes it all the worse, if that is the true scenario. Which is quite likely, in all honesty.

If he had showed the slightest bit of contrition after the event this could have been a positive and even cathartic conclusion that led to female footballers being treated as players first and led to healthy discussions within everyday work places on how our treatment of others manifests itself and how it makes them feel. All he had to do was say sorry, I was wrong and I want to listen to the players and people upset by my actions and realise why I was wrong. His behaviour post the event is at best misguided and at worst a disgrace, that has led to a conflict that will empower and entrench the straight white male victimhood fallacy, and no doubt lead to female footballers being abused and attacked on social media.

I wish him a long career of honest self-reflection.

What's being white got to do with it?

Imagine him kissing Ronaldo or Messi on the lips? Wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes.
You're not really comparing apples with apples though, are you?

A better question to ask would have been what if a female FA head had kissed one of those guys under the same circumstances?

I think we all know, rightly or wrongly, what would have happened. Nothing.

Spain is corrupt & fascism is endemic at multiple levels of society & government. RFEF is particularly corrupt & are deeply connected with power, money & government. The way they have handled the Hermoso incident is merely the latest but as most may not be aware most of the team already wanted to quit last year due to Vilda who was unequivocally defended by Rubiales and RFEF

Nevermind the blatant corrupt officiating for decades that has favored the capital ‘Royal’ club. Burn the RFEF down

Yes you right, not defending him in any way but women get away with most things

Realistically if it wasn't such a powder keg of a situation in the first place the whole kiss thing probably would have been a none event. Not that it should be of course but it more than likely would have been shrugged off.

The kiss in this situation is the cherry on top of a particularity nasty tasting cake.

To put it differently if your boss was female and had been constantly mistreating/demeaning you for years and then had the temerity to lay one on you after a good days work it would probably be enough to make you say "enough is enough" and take some action.
