All muslim countries have terrible human rights records and or treat their woman and homosexuals terribly.

Just because a country is rich with oil doesn't mean they treat the people fairly.

There are very few problems in these countries nowadays.

Meh we're never going to agree. I don't like islam, I'll make no apologies for it. I believe in democracy, I believe that women and gay people are equal not to mention a few other things.

This doesn't mean I dislike an individual muslim. I speak to them on a daily basis and everyone I know personally are absolutely fine. But its much like me and liverpool fans, I can get on with them but I don't agree with what they believe.

As I say, it looks like the muslim communities have come out and denounced this. I do hope we can all find some solidarity. Things like this could either make it much better or much much worse. I only hope some good can come out of such a horrific event.

There is a very nice looking wealthy class, which is what the wider world tends to be exposed to. Turkey i'll give you, but Qatar and Dubai no chance. Wrong - skin colour gives an indication (just that) as to whether you were likely born into a religion, or converted to it. Historically you could give a bucketload of reasons why black africans are a bit dense to be converting to Islam.

dunno I'd say UAE is probably the most tolerant of the lot, Abu Dhabi/Dubai certainly

but Bren's right, the Emirati's are top of the tree over there, everyone else is a certain level of underclass

and you do have to play by their rules, but all in all a very nice place to be if you can handle the heat and Ramadam

Why do we, (the "West") feel it our obligation to impose our values on other countries though? Basic human rights aside. On that basis, should we invade Rep of Ireland because of their abortion rules? Which we might disagree with. Or the US because they have the death penalty?
