This is a very good suggestion. It would take away a little of the incentive for teams on six points to manipulate their final match.

South Korea, I feel, benefitted from the fact Portugal were through despite failing to win any of their first two matches. In other words, the Koreans did nothing themselves to earn the right to benefit from this situation - unlike, say, the Japanese who had at least beaten Germany and therefore had created the circumstances where they could get through against a Spanish side who had also put themselves in the box seat.

Yea seed 1-8 w/ points, then GD, then world ranking. Give clubs like France an incentive to give a damn about the last match.

To prevent group rematches the group runner ups still play on the other side of the bracket as the winners and are seeded in 2 groups of 1-4
