World Snooker Championship

Re check this mate
Guinness:

The most century breaks in a professional snooker match by an individual is 7, achieved by three players: Stephen Hendry (UK), in the final of the 1994 UK Championships on 27 November 1994; Ding Junhui (China) during the semi-final of the 2016 World Snooker Championship on 28–30 April 2016; and Judd Trump (UK) during the final of the 2019 World Snooker Championship on 5–6 May 2019.

The final of the 2019 World Snooker Championship saw Judd Trump and opponent John Higgins score a combined total of 11 centuries – the most in a professional snooker match. Trump emerged triumphant, winning 18–9.

Hendry's achievement is more impressive as he made it in the fewest number of available frames. He beat Ken Doherty (who beat Ronnie in the semis) 10-5.

He's not the only one. It's a joint record as you failed to mention originally. Hendry was excellent. But why not credit the others

I just said he has the record. Did I say something incorrect? Not only that, but he achieved it in far fewer available frames. Something a lot of people do not accept is the fact that at his peak he was the heaviest scorer in the game. Because Ronnie was faster and makes it look easier does not mean he was actually better.

His record of ranking wins would have been much, much higher as there were far fewer ranking events when he was dominant as well.

He holds the record with 2 others. State all facts. No it doesn't matter how fast you pot them. Ronnie still made an awful lot more centuries. Speed irrelevant.

I said the standard is lower than it used to be. You can argue all you like, but you see it yourself if you watch the matches. The only player who is capable of reaching the heights is Trump. He has a higher top gear than anyone else.

There has been 89 centuries in this tournament so far and we’ve only just started the semi finals. It’ll likely end up the 2nd most ever at the world championships when all is said and done next week… fun fact : Your favourite player and who you regard as the greatest, a player who dominated the 90’s getting to the final of the crucible at will, had a career high of 12 centuries at the worlds. Mark Williams, matched that before walking out at the semi final stage today. The standard is there clearly.

Your only argument for it not being of standard has been because the likes of O’Sullivan, Williams, Higgins etc are still good enough and there hasn’t been players dominating an era of late. Surely that means because the competition is at its best and no one player can do that ?

Agree to disagree

There is more to the game than centuries.

On this form Trump will crush Ronnie and Higgins.

When he won his last he beat Ronnie in the semi and Williams in the final.

He also dispatched Hunter, Wattana and Stevens.
Hunter and Ronnie were up and coming in 1999. Them other two were duffers. Like I said when Hendry was dominant he was playing the likes of Taylor, Griffiths and Doug Mountjoy and lots of others. He beat Jimmy White 3 x times in the World final and everybody knows what Jimmy was up to.

Hendry was very good but the timing of his arrival in the game was perfect.

Edited to include Williams.

Jimmy is full of excuses. The fact is, White would have won a bundle of world titles and would be seen as an all-time great and the natural successor to Higgins and Davis had Hendry not come along.

Ronnie had been on the tour for seven seasons and had a Masters and a few UKs under his belt by that point. Higgins, who Williams beat in the semi, was reigning world champion. Williams himself already had a Masters and a UK title under his belt.
