Take your specs off occasionally mate, it helps.

Apply that exact logic in reverse and you might see where i'm coming from (but I doubt it).

"Chelsea and Arsenal are utter crap" - yet always finish above us.

"Any team can beat anyone" - so we end up in a perpetual cycle of not measuring team performance because "anyone can beat anyone - so what does it matter!"

Jesus.

And? We've been absolute crap as well for years, what does that have to do with anything? I'm not arsed how many times Chelsea with Hazard finished above crap Everton teams in years gone by. They are rubbish THIS season. It's up to us to be less rubbish and I don't see why that couldn't be possible. You've written it off already though because of the "we couldn't even beat Villa or Palace" logic, which has been proven complete horse manure by many in this thread. Have a great day sir.

This is kind of the point tho. After 3 games it doesnt really matter.

My original point was that if youre going to applaud teams for taking points against the supposed better sides you can't just conveniently ignore the fact that they've also dropped points against the supposedly lower sides

Yes. They haven't played well but had a good result at City and they face added competition for their top 4 position this year.

We haven't played well and haven't had good results and we face stern competition for 7th spot this year.

They haven't played well and lost at home to Newcastle, their one win came against Villa and our one win came against Watford and we sit level on points. I'm bored of you anyway now to be honest, you're quite a boring person.

Ah, another transitional season then? :p

I best batten down the hatches...

I don't accept that argument around "new, different type of players" and needing time to perform against bottom half sides - our opening three league games only saw one new player come in;

Crystal Palace. Starting 11 were all here last season.
Watford. Our starting 11 had one new signing in Gbamin, who was meant to be like-for-like for Gana.
Aston Villa. Starting 11 were all here last season.

Sure, time to really kick on but the level of performance in the opening three games has been pretty poor.
Jebus what would you be saying if you were a Spurs fan after they were beaten by Newcastle? Start of the season always takes time for teams to settle in

If some of the guys on here had been sitting outside Christ’s tomb when he was resurrected they would have been “3 bloody days we’ve b the n waiting, why couldn’t you have done it quicker”? Them “What! We have to walk all the way to Galilee? Ahh sod this, I’m off to play FM 01BC”

I'd have a massive amount more confidence in a management team that regularly compete at the top and just reached a champions league final.

The irony in yours, and many other replies is those who are currently expressing concern are doing so based on longer term.

It took Pochettino 5 years to reach the Champions League final and compete at the top. Silva has been here 1 year. One of these is long term, the other isn’t. Pick one.

Anyone who thinks our squad is one that SHOULD rather than could be competing for Champions League completely underestimate the rebuilding that was required. 7th is a reasonable expectation this season, next season I would expect to kick on and definitely be challenging for Europe.

Seriously this is beyond pathetic, We're 3 games in, If this was 15 or in December I'd understand but 3 games in and moaning about being off the pace and lethargic? Give me a break you moaning turnips, Sick of this place just moaning about the most pointless stuff whether we win draw or lose.

Poch had Spurs top 4 pretty much consistency though spending alot less money in the process than Silva has.

Realistically I cant see us finishing top 6 never mind top 4 if Silva was here for the next 5 years as he is too inconsistent of a manager / poor in game management.

I would also say there is a poor mentality culture at the club which was around before Silva but its clear to see based on our away results that I doubt that will be resolved anytime soon.
