Would you be happy if Moyes left?

Moyes: shake it all about

What I said was that in terms of wages and transfers combined there have been 13 other teams to have spent more than everton per season in the top flight during Moyes' time here.

If the market was always right and every player was worth their transfer fee and wages but no more or no less, we'd be finishing around 14th now (not every year of the last 11 because not all the teams that outspend us now were doing so then). The fact we're not indicates that Moyes is getting performance from his players above what they're valued as and that a lot of his rivals aren't. (Partly because few of the other clubs have had a single man in charge, tbf. It's always harder when you're inheriting players you didn't pay for.)

If you care about league positions per pound, Moyes is your man. There's very few managers with as good a record on finishing 6th with the tenth best paid squad.

But five teams who spent less money than us have won trophies during Moyes time here. If you want trophies, Moyes isn't your man.

Its highly possible that our silverware situation won't improve under a new manager either though.

Everything's possible.

You spin the dice, though. That's what football's about. If moyes isn't going to win the club a trophy then why is Moyes at the club?

Finishing 6th every year doesn't mean anything. Building excellent squads doesn't mean anything. You're either winning trophies or you're not and we're not.

wrong I do think he does well in the transfer market if you read back.

I just think Moyes has resigned himself to being a nearly man and it filters down through the club and a lot of fans have bought into that philosophy. When he first came he was hungry to prove himself and I don't see that fire anymore that is why i think the time has come to part company.

Yeah I did mate, hence the use of the word special rather than good because you then go on to question whether he's actually doing what many managers could achieve.

I'm just wanting to know what you think is making our squad so effective in the league? If its not purchasing players, motivating, tactics etc what has dragged us repeatedly above high spending and often high profile managers?

On here over the last few weeks (not necessarily from you I should add) I've heard that he's tactically inept, not good in the transfer market, doesn't play the right players, plays the wrong players in the wrong position, doesn't bring through the youth, can't motivate players, in fact destroys morale with his interviews, has no plan b..

So how do we finish above... well anyone really?

It's a question I often ask as I watch us play in the cups and in derbies, I think 'wow if that's the standard of our players how do we ever win a game' and then we play a league game the next week and we're incredibly good and smash the oppositon all over the show.

I've heard if moyes leaves, the club are going to ask if we can go straight into the conference as there is no point delaying our fate.

Not what I heard, I heard they are going to stop buying mowers and invest some the OOC on open top busses for the inevitable parades guaranteed to follow.

Somebody said to me the other day " do you know your history lad, we have won the title nine times". I soon put him straight, I've been watching Everton since we were formed in march 2002 and I don't remember these nine league titles. He was a fool.

People currently at the club who have never won us any trophies.

Board members: Kenwright, Woods, Earl, Carter, Elstone (no trophies? out!)

Staff: Moyes, Round, Lumsden, Woods, Holden, Stubbs, Weir, Irving, Ferguson, Billows, sheedy (no trophies? out!)

Players: Mucha, Hibbert, baines, Distin, heitinga, jagielka, neville, duffy, stones, coleman, oviedo, garbutt, bidwell, junior, osman, gibson, barkley, howard, hitzlsperger, mirallas, naismith, gueye, jelavic, anichebe, vellios, mcaleny, kennedy, stringthorpe, fellaini, pienaar, hammer, lundstrum (no trophies? out!)

Honestly I don't think we should even sell baines or fellaini, we should just cancel their contracts and kick them out the club like the failiures they are.

I know he is.

The fans ultimately have no say on whether he stays or goes, but the question asked is whether the majority of fans think 'good riddance' or not.

Somebody was saying on another thread that the majority of fans want him gone, not 'think he's going' but 'would rather he left then didn't'. This poll was just a way of testing that theory.

I'm interested in people's opinions in things they can't directly affect themselves, if you're not then I have to wonder why you're reading a forum. Nothing anyone types here will effect what actually happens.

I wasn't sniping at the thread itself. It's lovely and you should be very proud of it.

The point I was making was that, in some instances, people saying they'd be happy to see Moyes leave are given the usual 'be careful what you wish for, remember Charlton/Blackburn' spiel, as though they're hounding out a man just trying to get on with his job. I thought that would be obvious to someone as astute as yourself.

Blushing here, mate.

Erm, your list is wrong.

Fairly sure we have won stuff with Carter, Sheedy and Ferguson.
