Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

Heard its done...read its done.

Odds seem very short now as well.

Excited.
Just like we heard about Barkley's text? Think about it if it was so close why would he change his bio now. I wish we would stop being so gullible and face facts, odds means nothing just a bunch of blokes trying to fool us into spending money with them.

Even if we signed Lukaku which I believe to be unlikely, how long do u guys think it will take him to start telling the press he wants out for CL football, I will give it 2 years max and if we try to dig our heels in, Lukaku with his attitude problem will make it very unpleasant. The blokes level of self-entitlement is staggering, I wish we will go after more realistic targets that would actually feel privileged to be here.

And let the abuse begin..

Its been done for days. today he meets up with Roberto. and they will have there picture taken and formally announce.
You're either right, in which case fair enough or (and sadly i think more likely) you're trying to wind up fellow blues to believe something that isn't true - in which case I just don't get it.

Not abuse mate, but disagree with you on pretty much all points from the start of the second paragraph onwards.

Particularly the point about an attitude problem and a sense of self entitlement.

Pretty much everyone who works with Lukaku (including our own manager) says he lives and breathes football, goes home and watches specially put together footage of every Premier League game that week, to look for weaknesses he can exploit in opposition defences, and works hard in training.

He's exceptionally sure of himself, and believes in his own ability, yes... but isn't that exactly what you want in a Premier League striker? Yes he thinks he can play at the top level - but in fairness to him, he's scored 32(?) Premier League goals over the last 2 seasons before the age of 21 - and one of those seasons was playing a lot as a sub, for a not terribly wonderful team. Don't think that qualifies as "self entitlement", think it's just realism, especially when you look at this:

Definitely thinking it is done now - was worried a couple of days ago.

If he stays fit a whole season he effectively guarantees us a top 8 finish

So you're saying we should attempt to sign David Nugent and Matt Derbyshire?

I can understand the part about his ego and I think there'll be some sort of clause in his contract. We've never had a high profile signing before and if he doesn't perform as expected and spits his dummy out after having a falling out with Roberto we will probably lose 10m on the resale value. These are just some thought than I'm weighing up.

I don't see why he should be exceptionally sure of himself cause there are some major doubt about his ability, so buying him has its risk too

Don't get it?

My poor, tired, only had 2 cups of coffee excuse for humour... :coffee:

Phil Neville once said "Only twice in the last 11 years we've finished outside the top 10, that's a massive achievement for a club like Everton"

He's also known to reward himself with a KitKat chocolate bar....

ANYWAY - I do hope we get some solid news on Lukaku today as the whole thing is dragging on far too long. I know Roberto said it would take time and I know the whole situation is not helped by the endless "ITK's" spouting this and that - causing a mental amount of fewm with the lids but it's getting close to the time we could do with starting his pre-season.

When are the World cup players due back for training? Anyone know? Kev Mirallas return date would be a good indication.

There really, really aren't major doubts at all. He's a goalscorer, and he scores goals- more goals than almost anyone has managed at a top level by his age and with his number of appearances.

Aside from which, would you prefer a striker who ISN'T confident in his own abilities? If you would, take a look at Jelavic the season before last, and get back to me.

If you sign any top player and you're not Real Madrid you have to expect they will move. Name one club in the prem who have kept hold of a top foreign striker for their whole career? Maybe Drogba is the only one that springs to mind. So he goes in two years, we'd have got three seasons out of him, probably qualified for Europe everytime and can then double our money on him.
