Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

Despite looking poor yesterday, the obvious answer is a yes.

Signing the likes of Lukaku, or in United's case Shaw, for around £25-30 mil may seem expensive, but signing someone who is capable of playing in that side for the next 8-10 years in my opinion is worth it.

Problem is, that performance you saw yesterday was actually a pretty typical Lukaku performance - thing is he normally disguises it by popping in a goal and everyone forgets.

It's a big worry that he doesn't fit our style of play. Hoping Martinez accommodates his talents better or we're doing a square peg, round hole situation with him.

Fairly sure Martinez knows which players fit our style of play better, and that he wouldn't have spent £28m on somebody if he thought that was not the case.

Can only go on what my own eyes see mate, and offer an opinion. That performance yesterday was everything I saw throughout 2014.

Not saying Lukaku is a bad player, but I will definitely say he could be used more effectively.

I think it was an utter waste of 28 million quid, we played with 10 men yesterday as did Belgium in some of the games he started in the WC, as Tubey said we've seen this too many times last season, what the bloody hell is Martinez playing at not having brought in another striker yet

That's going too far to say the least. What we need is a creative attacking mid who can take the ball, spin and lay him in behind and we'll see the best of Lukaku - or at the very least a more athletic strike partner to link him with. But if we end this transfer window without replacing Barkley either way we'll be in dire trouble IMO.

LOL

He wasn't fit at all. Would have probably been a sub if not for Ross's injury.

In spite of that, his hold up play in the first half was excellent. Watch his control, bit of skill and 40 yard pass to Baines just before our second goal. He's never going to have as many chances to score when he's tasked with bringing others into play and making space/providing a foil for Naismith. With a proper playmaker behind him, he'd have more chances to slot.

His hold up play was indeed better than what it was last season. Again though he just wasn't played in behind often enough. McGeady tried a couple of times but their back line were always alert to it.

It will be criminal if we don't get an attacking midfielder and a striker in in the next few day's, we should have done this weeks ago, some people might laugh but i think Michu would be an excellent choice, could fit both roles, i stand by my opinion of that being way too much for us to have paid for Rom though

He tucked in to often yesterday as appose running in behind, the amount of times he dropped short asthough he was trying to set up a 1-2 was annoying
