Would you sign Welbeck? (rumoured to be wanting out of OT)

Do I think we should sign him? Probably not.

I do think there's a decent player in there somewhere, though (at least top 10 prem standard). Hopefully for his career's sake, some manager/club brings it out of him.

From 15 starts (10 apps from bench), he scored 9 goals for United in the league this season, despite being played more often out left than as a striker. I hardly think that's a poor stat for him. Ferguson started putting him out on the left wing more often when he struggled to score in the 2011-12 season v Stoke (H) (4-2) and Real Madrid (A) (1-1). Overall, he doesn't score a lot of goals though, but keep in mind that he's young.

As a United fan, I really want Welbeck to stay put, because I think he could go on to become an excellent player. He'll run his legs off throughout the game, and put an honest effort into his game. I believe he's best deployed in a 4-2-3-1 system, or similar formation. The problem would be that he seems to want to play as a striker. When he plays both the left wing and the striker position, he's a player that's easy to fit into several formations. If he is to be played as a lone striker, he'll need really good support. If he is to play in a two-striker system, there needs to be clear distinctions between the two strikers' tasks.

If he ends up in Everton, be aware that he'll be frustrating to watch at times. He'll lose control over the ball, sometimes he'll just plainly fall over for no apparant reason, and he'll blow quite a few shots over the bar, but he'll deliver some really good moments, and some big goals, and some seemingly accidental goals. I would expect a poor start to his potential Everton career though, as he'll need some time to settle in.

I do, however, don't think Everton would be right team for Welbeck, and I don't think Welbeck would be right player for Everton. I'm aware that I've defended two United players in a row now, but a lot of you seem to be underestimating Welbeck's abilities and potential. There's a reason he has already played 139 games for Man Utd at 23.

I'd be willing to give any player a chance and I honestly think we'd be the making of both him and Cleverley.

But when does it get to the point that we're buying up the cast off's and deadwood from a team that finished below us and we beat twice?

Decent player. I'd be quite happy if we signed him and reckon he'd prove a lot of people wrong.

No really.

As a united fan I don't want us to sell him.. At least you lot have no interest in him, thats one team trying to poach him out of the equation...

He is going to blossom under Martinez and will be a 20 goal striker. People question his finishing and goals but do not take into account the number of games he has played on the left of a 4411. He has a very good goal to games ratio when played up front for both England and United. His hold up play, link up, passing, ability on the ball, are all top notch. Everton could do well with a striker like him at the right price.

I rate him highly.. His game benefits the whole team, our star strikers are technically better than him yet in the big games he outshines them..whilst playing out of position.
He is just unlucky, coming through at a time we have Robin and Rooney.

I don't know how fixated he is on playing up front. He could shine on the left in a 433 system under Van Gaal.

If he is adamant on playing up front than him and Everton won't go wrong with each other.
