Nobody challenged us at the time, look I'm sure we all wanted him to do well but a quick look at his career and it does seem like he is a bit of a flop tbh.
Yeh I agree it hasn't worked out for him as most would of thought and hoped. But he was highly regarded before he came to us.

Once Everton has touched you n all that

Well the RS, Dortmund, Lyon all showing interest amongst others, did YOU not just mention Brighton also?

Very weird situation created by this supposed Lyon bid-

40m pounds = 47m Euros. For perspective that's almost double Lyon's transfer record and would be a French transfer record for clubs other than PSG. For a kid with one season in the Eredivisie? And why would you pay full asking price to a club that's forced to sell to avoid a points deduction? If Minteh turns round and says "OK then" would Lyon go through with it or would they cack themselves and run for the hills?

If it's a favour bid designed to ramp the price but not actually go through has it backfired? IE is it so ludicrously high that clubs aren't even attempting to get near it?

Maybe we'll understand what games are being played when this all works itself but for now I'm baffled.

Lyon are also just about to pay c.€20m for the lad from Forest. Not the same position mind you (he's a defender) but obviously the money needs to be factored.

Plus they were in the mix for Godfrey. Maybe Textor's just having a big old splurge but given the financials in French football it would be an awful lot.

Red flags everywhere regarding this transfer....

You might wonder why a teenage winger supposedly really want to sign for a club with a manager that never really have played with wingers.

Financially you'd expect signing for a Premier League club to be much more lucrative than signing for a French club. For both player and agent. Yes, he is already under contract with a Premier League club, but when a player goes from being a 7 million player to a 30-40 million player in 12 months, there will be expectations that his wages are increased with several hundred percent. And if the player makes 3 or 4x the money, his agent does the same.

And his agent doesn't really represent other players (of value). But I am sure he can secure him self a very good income for the next 4 or 5 years if Minteh signs for Everton. He would not need to represent other players. No need to work. Which maybe explains why player and agent seems to work to get a transfer within England asap.

Also. Feyenoord's manager was Arne Slot. He should know everything worth knowing about Minteh. If Minteh is all that and Newcastle are desperate to sell, why aren't Liverpool getting this done. They love a spreadsheet transfer. They need to start looking for Salah's successor. And they will have a position in their team that suits Minteh.

Pretty much all these players that comes in with high expectations after impressing in the Dutch league fail to make an impact in England. That doesn't mean Minteh will be poor, but any signing comes with a massive risk. Even for a price at the third of what is quoted a signing seems like a punt.

There is a difference between coming in to replace Salah and coming in to compete with Jack Harrison.
