Yannick Bolasie

He's not, it's just the amount of money involved that adds fuel to the fire. Same as with Gylfi.

Not an absolutely useless player but less value-for-money than other players at a comparable level of ability. That's why these players wind up so many supporters.

It isn't their fault but not taking the hint and moving on is not going to endear them to us.
Anyone who gets mad at a player for not moving on to less money when they don't have to is a massive hypocrite as there is no way they would do the same if put in the same position. It is a bit infuriating that we keep getting ourselves in that position but it is never the player's responsibility to fix it.

Rational or not you're not going to stop people feeling this way.

He's absolutely allowed to do what he likes and stay on his contract and we have every right to detest him for it.

He had to play at some point and that season was essentially a dead rubber
Which is why Lookman should have been guaranteed minutes instead of sent on loan. Anyway not doing this again, but Bolasie looked like he could barely run when he came back. It is one time where I actually think the manager didn't need to see it in real action, training was enough to tell he was done.

I'm not going to detest someone for doing exactly what I would do.

The most egregious one is Cuco. He's making somewhere between 1 and 2 million a year on his Everton contract. The best he could probably do after he leaves is 500,000, but more than likely he's going to be under 250,000. There is no way someone is leaving a guaranteed contract to make 1/8 the salary. Yet people are fuming that he stays.

We had to give Bolasie a chance to prove he wasn't finished and having paid 28 million for him I am sure getting value out of him was more of a priority for Moshiri than giving minutes to Lookman who had already been agitating for a move and would inevitably bring back what we paid when we sold him.

Bolasie got 856 minutes that season.

FYI Lookman has been given 237 minutes by RB Leipzig this season. Make of that what you will.

He got 576 minutes when he went there on loan which I'm sure we could have found for him had he stayed and made the least bit of effort to look interested in making a career for himself here.

And that's your choice to make. Other people will have no issue with that.

You're right that they have no reason to give up their contractually obligated amounts but you can't expect people to like them for this. They're holding the club back and people are going to resent them for doing so because we care more for the club than we do for those wasters.

What I make of it are RBL are a good team trying to win a league title and Lookman isn't to that level but Everton aren't that and in 2018 especially they were not that.

As this thread probably makes clear, I actually like Yannick and would have loved to see him back but he was clearly done after 45 minutes of his return. The movement just looked so slow and labored. I didn't even realize he played 856 minutes, but that is honestly horrifying. God that year always is worse than I remembered.

But it is 100% on the club and hating the players is just a way of not having to acknowledge that. It doesn't matter in the end, but that is why people do it.

Or he simply isn't as good as you would like to think he is and that's why he's not getting a sniff.

Even in 2018 he had done naff all for us in a blue shirt. A goal against City at the death of the match and a brace against Limassol and that's about it.

You cannot write a player off 45 minutes into their return from injury mate, especially when the injury kept them out for most of a year.

It has more to do with the fact that he clearly couldn't run right and his entire game pre injury revolved around pace. I didn't see a way back for him and it turned out to be pretty much the case sadly.

I can do the Lookman thing in his thread, but you are incorrect.

He's a bad fit for any team that wants to play high level football. The game isn't about crossing anymore, City and the RS make that pretty clear, but we signed him to pump balls in to Rom. It worked ok for a spell, but it was never a good plan.

Also nothing about that is Bolasie's own fault, as much as people will blame him it seems.

Plenty of people acknowledge that it was the fault of the club and Walsh and Koeman are pariahs as a result of it.
Right so get off the backs of Oumar, Cuco, Yannick and the rest will you? (I don't mean you personally, just in general).
