The abuse he gets on social media mate, his family were getting it the other week and I think it's unacceptable.
Literally every person in the public eye gets some abuse on social media, it’s the nature of the beast. Most of his posts have Evertonians kissing his arse trying to get free shirts.

He conveniently deleted his posts laughing at Everton when we were losing at Aston Villa last year.

The fella went on a social media campaign to try get in the fans’ good books now he knows his career is pretty much done.

£80k a week to just sit there. Get out of the club and have some dignity.

Pees me off people using wages as a stick to beat them with, they all earn ridiculous amounts and a lot for every club sit on the bench.

Literally every person in the public eye gets abuse and that makes it ok does it.

No mate it doesn't and it needs to change. He's had a bad injury and done his best to get back, he's not sat on his arse and even if he was he can't pick himself can he.

He knows he hasn't got a future here and has confirmed Ancelotti told him as much last week.

You have to assume his agent is working on a move until then he'll do the job which he is paid (a lot, like them all) to do and that is train.

There has to be interest from other clubs and they have to make an offer - hopefully that happens in the next week or so (domestic window for EFL shuts on the 16th)

Doesn’t make it okay but on the same hand is anything ever okay? You know you’re going to get some abuse, practically anyone who posts online anywhere does, but you either get thick skin or don’t go on social media. No one has a gun to your head making you do it.

He claims he wants to play football so much so he can leave his big wage and go to play for less money. Or is he happy sitting here doing nothing but lining his pocket?

I notice you skirted over his laughing at the club losing.

He’s been told he is surplus to requirements. Now he should get out of the club.

Seems like a nice bloke, but if football and desire is his main motivator as he says, then surely he'd want to just play, even if it means going to a club who is going to pay him 25% or so of his current wage. I mean, he's already made more money as a footballer than most of us will in a lifetime.

Got to be a club that wants to do that, though.

Why?

He has a short career, like the rest of them. Why would he give up his £80k a week deal unless someone is in for him?

It'd be mental. You wouldn't do it, nobody would.

If a team comes in for him then I'm sure the bloke will go. There has been literally no talk of any interest so hopefully we see that change in the coming days.

I think the key thing to remember here is that this is a man who’s had loan spells in 3 different bum leagues and none of the clubs had any interest in taking him permanently after it. He is a really, really bad footballer.

Not at all, he was a nob for doing it, it's not like I want him to stay but that doesn't mean he is an open window for people to abuse him. I think he deals with it all well actually because he gets a lot but when family comes into it, it's bang out of order. I would love to know how you know he isn't looking for a club, would you take a 50% wage cut, regardless of whether it's still a ridiculous amount? They are people, some need to remember that.

Anyway, I'm sure you will get your wish he will be gone. Whose wages bother you next, Bernard?

Yeah, I'm not 'defending' him either.

Just pointing out nobody - in this case a 31-year-old footballer - is gonna give up £80-90k p/wk without the guarantee that if they do then they'll get another job/club.

The simple fact is, We've gave him a 70k a week contract and we don't want him anymore.
No teams will take him because we gave him such a stupid contract.
So we're stuck with him whether you like it or not, I think his twitter antics are a bit cringe myself but he means it in good faith.

Why should he do it? Because he wants to play football, apparently.

His current wage isn’t enticing teams to go in for him so he should amend that IF he wants to play football.

He doesn’t really want to play, though. He wants the money.

His cringeworthy PR campaign hasn’t worked on Ancelotti, thankfully.

Right, but there's nothing to say he isn't willing to cut his wage, IF a club comes in for him.

By the looks of it, no club has.

So he's not going to just drop to no wage, is he.

As they say, it's easier to find a job when you're in a job. Same applies here, really. Why would he spite himself whatever his wage is. He knows he's not going to play here but he is going to train, keep himself fit / sharp etc. Why would he terminate his contract unless he has assurances from another club that they want him?

He would do it to make himself attractive to other clubs. If he wants to play then these are the things a player of his subpar quality will need to do.

Posting on social media ‘12th man tonight’ is beyond pathetic for a supposedly fit professional footballer.
