What is value for money though in the crazy world of transfers?

Andy Carroll £35m
Torres £50m
Seamus Coleman 60k
Oumar Niasse £13m
Aquilani (a hero will rise) £20m
Pienaar at Spurs v Pienaar at Everton.

What matters is not the price or value for money, but if the player can fit a system, settle his family and himself in the area or country (Carroll did not want to leave Newcastle where he was playing very well).

If our scouting has been done thoroughly then he should prove to be a shrewd addition and an effective team player.

I think Walsh probably looked at Bolasie, Musa and Mane whilst at Leicester, and they ultimately signed Musa. Shame we couldn't have gotten Musa, but Bolasie will serve the same purpose for us. Winger, back-up striker, basically wherever we need him on a game by game basis.

Still makes me smile that we got Coleman for £60k, what a buy that was, cheers Moyesey.

If Koeman sees potential in the lad (which he clearly has) and brings it to the fore, as he is going to do with Gana, then the price of this transfer will be long forgotten. Let's back in the gaffer.

The more i look at Bolaise the more this makes sense to me, ive done a bit of digging on him and he offers a lot especially in the transtition of play, the lad can play with his back to goal, recieve the ball on the half way line, turn and beat his man, he has pace and makes up serious yards in the second 50 % of the pitch - what he will offer is a major improvement in our transition of play from defense to attack. If and it seems the case we want to get the ball forward quickly he will be a major outlet and will complement Lukaku no end in terms of pace and power.

He has that Maverick style a creative unpredictability to beat but also grind opponents, he stretches the pitch and as such a back four he can cut inside and also is more then comfortable out on the flank. He has power, pace and a good work ethic to fit our system but is direct and unpredictable.

Im starting to get excited by him and what he may be able to offer, many can point to his goals and assists stats but Palace have had dire forwards for their time in the PL and his creativity has gone rather unfinished as a result.

This could be a very canny, well balanced signing for how we want to play and our system. He ticks a hell of a lot of boxes, more so then i first thought and at first glimpse.

Got to consider that most of those transfers were a few years ago so those fees would most likely have been even higher today

I reckon he will be playing the Shane Long role. I do think he's better than Shane Long, who Southampton signed for £12m at the age of 27 2 years ago, which is about £20m in equivalent money now.

Long runs the channels, works all day, gets into great positions and converts about 1 in 4 chances but provides for the other strikers. Lukaku will benefit from a player like that, so if Bolasie's work rate equals Longs then fair enough I suppose, although it still seems at least £10m too much to me.

Big, strong, fast, great dribbler and relentless at it.

But ultimately he doesn't score or set up any goals. He isn't inconsistent, he is consistently crap with the very rare game where he looks good.

Anichebe has a better goals plus assists record over the last 4 years in far fewer minutes.
