Would you rather us be more like the palace 'ultras' who just sing because their made up their wives let them out for the afternoon?

I like the approach of making the players work for a song, a bit like a 10 bob hooker grinding a pole

Honestly id like to see a lot more abuse of rival fans/players like when man city and chelsea came down last season

I'm a one trick pony:

Im in the £30m is too much camp too FWIW.

I remember when football was about geniuses with footballing brains and talent, not just who can run the 100m in 12 seconds.
If its just about pace then we have a winger called McGeady.

Not against Bolasie, just not in favour for £25-£30m.

Harsh that on Bolasie. No one deserves to be compared to McGeady

IT's an awful lot of money but thats the cost of being part of the circus.

McGeady running for 12 seconds?

The inside of his lungs would be like the Hadron Collider

Well for one McGeady is crap and isn't even that fast - Bolasie has a lot more to his game.

I can't fail to notice so many people comparing Bolasie to other wingers who are nothing alike in terms of stature or style either. He offers something different and so often we look so toothless up top in terms of presence that a big, powerful player will do us the world of good.

I agree on the price, but if we are willing to stump up this much for him then I think it's pretty clear Koeman sees him as being key to the system he wants to use.

I can see and understand a lot of frustrations with the signing. You end up paying more than you might want to for premier league experience. I think we have tied to go for top players and it hasn't worked, so we may be looking at a slightly alternative strategy which is getting in some proven PL players (Williams, Kone, Bolasie) alongside some highly talented young players (Ziyech) with the possibility of a wildcart pick from Walsh's built up network (Ghezzal, and the lad at Valencia). If a big signing comes on top then it's the icing on the cake but it seems probably a more realistic way to approach transfer of the next 6-12 months.

I am going to put the case for the defence re Bolasie. It looks like it's 25 rising to 30. That's around 8-10 million less than Liverpool paid for Mane for example so it's in the ballpark of cost for premier league signings.

When you look at players you are always wondering "have they got another level". I look at Bolasie and whenever I have watched him he has struck me as a lad who has. The size of him, power and pace meant I always thought he was an unpolished diamond. Palace always had some fantastic wingers but he was seemingly viewed as a cut above them. When we went for Sigordson I was more alarmed as I don't see him as a player who has another level. I don't think he can improve on his stats and at a club where he is less of a focal point they may decline. The same is probably true of Mata, but I think Mata has the intelligence to bring more out of others which differentiates him from Sigordson who I think mains attribute is ballstriking.

The stats can be misleading. They are not great reading, but for a 4 month spell Bolasie's time has been spent playing for a side in the bottom half of the league, often in dire straights of relegation trouble for defence minded managers. They don't excuse the lack of output but it's not a fair like for like comparison with Deulofeu or Mirallas (or even Mane as I've seen on here). He will have to improve those numbers and I'm sure he will be aware of that.

The big reason why it is a yes for me though is that I think he fits like a hand to glove what Koeman is looking to do with Everton. He has said he wants more power, more athleticism and more pace. This lad gives us all of those. The way we played on Saturday I think he would have been a real handful on the break as one of the front 3. His physical attributes are akin to Ronaldo, albeit he lags behind in technical skill but I think he will fit the system perfectly.

I remember people raising eye brows when he signed a similar player (to how he may use Bolasie) in Shane Long for Southampton when he paid 12 million. It seemed steep and probably reflected the Premier League Premium fee. I doubt anybody would quibble that deal now though. I am open minded on this deal, of course there are problems but there are also lots of positives.

100m in 12 seconds - Errrrm mate that really isn't very fast yanno? any semi decent high school athlete will be around that level

BTW McGeady is actually not fast - can you remember him EVER using his pace to beat someone and them not getting back at him

I did mate. I watched it live - I took down the quotes at the time.

He was clearly not happy that he was going but was putting a brave face on it.

Well, he said he would be replaced by someone who scores goals and also that the team doesnt score with him in it....

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

This, all day long. Stats can be twisted any way you like in order to back up a theory/idea/opinion. Stats mean nothing, it's performances on the pitch that matter and the answer to the question "are they better than what we have?". Better than Kone and Cleverley - definitely. Chosen by Koeman/Walsh - that's good enough for me ;)
