Yannick Bolasie

The one that Barkley fluffed was the cross of the highest quality. I can't account for the other red arrows, but unless they were aimless balls to no-one, it could easily be argued that he's putting in excellent crosses and the team simply aren't doing enough to be on the end of them.

Bolasie is the type of player will always fall foul of Opta stats, I'm the same way a player knocking sideways passed around in midfield will always have a great pass completion rate. Bolasie is there to speculate. He shouldn't be hung out to dry on his stats.

lies, damned lies, and statistics. I get that.

I find him very frustrating, the stats above are indicative as to why. Only glanced at Opta because they were selling a widget product, but even before then before the last game;

Gets the ball. Head down, byline - attempt of a lottery cross.

His hit rate is through the floor - one good moment should excuse the previous 20 breakdowns of play through him. He drives me scatty.

I've seen a few people saying he put a shift in, but I was at the game and I was far from the only one who was calling him a lazy so and so at times. Yes he has those 'bull in a china shop' moments when he starts bulldozing around and it looks like he's wholehearted, but there were a number of occasions when his full back was left with 2 men to mark as he just jogged back, and even a couple of attacking situations where he made no effort at all to get up in support and offer himself to the player with the ball.

I think he's one of those players who charges around in little bursts and gives the impression he's worked hard, when he's actually taking little 10 minute breaks in between while he gets his breath back.

I don't dispute for a second that he creates some excellent chances, but over 90 minutes he just doesn't have enough of an impact for me to consider him a good signing at the moment.

It really annoys me that I have to watch this guy in an Everton shirt as a key starting player.

I get he has some assists and he actually tries, but not enough for me to make up for the fact there is no way we should be spending so much money on a player like that.

How can Koeman come into a club with an average and wildly inconsistent attack and then decide more averageness and inconsistency is the answer. And to splurge so much cash on him at that.

I know we are crap and have been for a while, but I don't think our profile is so low that we couldn't find at least 20 better options than Yannick Bolasie to go for.

...hopefully he makes me eat my words by the time he is out the door at Goodison, but I don't expect so.

Yep hung Baines out to dry a few times sleeping letting his full back on. Then when he realises he puts the afterburners on and everyone thinks he's working hard when he's been caught on the hop. Happened a good few times.

As Ped said on ToffeeTV, say what you like about his end product (we know he's frustrating, and we know he will either do something stupid or he'll beat his full-back and put in a great percentage cross that players should be getting on the end of).

That's what he is. And if this team had any ounce of attacking nous, we'd be making sure those percentage crosses that do get into the box are buried.

I'm sorry, but anybody slating a player that at least tries to make stuff happen, when there's literally eight others (excluding Gueye and Stek) who literally float through the game, need to give their heads a collective wobble.

He works hard. He has passion. He frustrates and excites in equal measure.

But at the moment he has been our main creative outlet.

People may blame the tactics, but I refuse to believe the tactics set out by Koeman are 'punt it to Bolasie'.

That never happened at S'ton. It was never a case of 'punt it to the big man'.

The fact is that this side run out of ideas so quickly that the only other alternative is give it to Yannick.
People are quoting Ped.

Goodnight and God bless.

so far ...

Belassie is frustrating, but at least he tries to make things happen. If he could think a bit more when in full flow, he would be a very good player. There was an occasion late on yesterday when he drove down the middle ,beating three players...problem was he lost the ball trying to beat another player when there was an easy pass on to put Geri in the clear. It must also be frustrating for him to have so much pace and enthusiasm in his locker, and yet have to put up with the slow, indecisive fannying around perpetrated by Ross Barkley ......Barkley who is red faced and blowing hard ten minutes into most games, without actually exerting himself. Barkley may have ball skills, but he does not have the attitude or fitness levels required in the Premier league. He is of course not alone in that respect...the way Bournemouth approached the game against Arsenal, never giving up, taking the game to the opposition ,and working hard as a team for 90 minutes, put our feeble efforts yesterday to shame. Koeman is cornered now....he has to seriously kick some ass, and get a performance out of this lot against United, or he will lose the crowd, never mind losing the dressing room.

Hes like forrest gump in a way...head down...run around a bit...but nothing upstairs.
