new manager a new director of footballer nobody giving them a chance, just cause there not signing mata, kouilbaly completely unrealistic players considering ones in the champions league other is on 175 k a week! lets give them a chance all the player cant be any worse than niasse or cleverly left mid
Agree if we can't get the likes of mata witsel kouilbaly etc - which it appears we can't then the likes of Bolasie are the next level down.

30 million is the new 15 million now

To you, maybe.

Even if you had just won the lottery, would you be happy letting aldi charge you a grand for a pint of milk? We don't have a limitless transfer fund, and he's gonna be taking up a large enough chunk of what we do have.

This fella flops (And I have no confidence whatsoever he's gonna end up proving his value, or anywhere near it) and koeman's ability in the transfer market is under serious scrutiny - quite probably under ridicule. That'll probably mean Moshiri holds back dough in future because the trust has been eroded, and the resulting chain reaction leads to a continuation of the crap we've had to put up with for the last 20 years.

This (probable) signing is beyond all rational thought. It makes no sense at all to me.

People should actually read the Palace forums as well. Most are sad to see him go and most are complimentary about what he has brought to their team with pace and power. There are only a few who aren't that bothered, and you get the distinct impression that those that are saying Townsend is better are trying their best to make themselves feel better about losing one of their best players.

To clarify, Martinez put Cleverley and Kone out there most of last year.

Absolutely and it was one of the things I hated most about watching us play. The original post I was responding to was about Lennon and Deulofeu and questioning if we needed another winger. I think we definitely do need someone on the left hand side. Whether Bolasie is the right man is a different question but for me left midfield was one of the crucial positions we needed to address this summer.

Bolasie is unpredictable, powerful, a useful attacking weapon - puts the defence on the backfoot. Del is fast feet and speed and can get bullied out of the game sometimes. It's great to have options.
We will be playing a much faster less deliberate style this year. Centre forward position will be more important in the build up under Koeman - hopefully no more games when the forward is stood up front hands on hips watching senseless tippy tappy.

Defo. Whether that's signing the right player or playing Kev there I don't know. Let's hope Koeman knows.

exactly!!

it's all a bit down to if koeman can get him playing to what he's capable of more often

if he's this keen on getting him it looks like he thinks he can
unplayable on his day, just blows far too hot and cold

don't think mata is really affected by this - we'd be getting him to play CAM rather than left wing, still hoping we do and barkley plays b2b

I love Kev and Del, but let's be honest we are a bit predictable at times in that the only 'power' we have up top really is Rom.

Kev, Del and Lennon are rapid and nimble, but sometimes that's not enough against big, strong and solid defences that defend as a unit. Somebody like Bolasie provides something different.

If it's £20m, rising to £25m, which yes is high but so be it, it's probably the going rate in this mental market, and he gives us something we don't have.

I was iffy on this move at first but if he comes, I'm well behind him and trust Koeman to get the best out of him.

2014/15 the lad was superb for much of the season - 4 goals and 11 assists isn't to be sniffed at. Obviously struggled last year, but FWIW still amassed more goals and assists than any of our wingers bar Del, and didn't have Lukaku up top but rather Dwight Gayle, Fraser Campbell and Connor Wickham, as well as suffering a bad injury.

£20-30m really is the new average to good signing. The TV money has totally distorted what constitutes a good deal in this league now, so I'm not really bothered about the fee. Will he improve the squad? Definitely.

The day we sign an completely average 27 year old from Palace whose scored 12 goals is 132 appearances for thirty million pounds is a day I never ever saw coming.

Shocker.
