2017/18 Yannick Bolasie

Love how some ‘back’ the players on here.

Of course his passing % is lower, he was the one always trying to take the riskier options to create. Which he was quite successful at, too.

Everyone bemoans our lack of pace and he obviously brings that in droves. At least he did before the knee and let’s hope he can again.

Back him in, you’re ‘supporters’ for a reason. Aren’t you?

I always enjoyed watching him for Palace on MOTD, but knew from Palace fans that the entirety of his effective moments were captured on MOTD... and this has mostly been borne out for us. He's a Youtube player.

I would like us to be the sort of team where he'd be a different option off the bench, when the game is stretched (not to mention the sort of team that doesn't splooge almost £30m on the likes of Bolassie) but we are obviously not currently that sort of team.

He's like a big oafish Deulofeu, the way he can't move without doing that silly roll-over which he loses control of half the time, but his end product is even less reliable.

I saw a Chelsea v. Palace game about three or four years when Palace took them apart at the Bridge. We all know that CFC had for years bullied EFC ,especially Ivanovitch and Terry. Who can forget Ivanovitch nearly trothling McCarthy as they ganged up on the ref and got Barry sent off?

Well that day Bolasie did a Johnny Morrissey and made Ivanovitch lay down and scream for mercy.

His coming to EFC to partner Lukaku, I thought was a great move but it only worked occasionally and then Bolasie got a big injury. But have no doubts, Bolasie is just what EFC lack today. A fearless, hard, physical winger with bit of pace.

Another player who is seemingly getting better and better whilst injured. There is a possibility that he won't have the same pace when he returns from injury, he's also a bit erratic and lacks proper quality. He is fast and unpredictable but also very wasteful most of the times. Let's also hope we don't revert to the 'find Bolasie at all costs' type of football we were playing before he got injured. Coincidence we improved after his injury?? Not so sure.
Have to say that his positivity and cheerfulness after his injury has made me warm to him in a way that his actual performances didn't - so hope he comes back on form for all our sakes.

Erm, were they?

I seem to remember his stats being pretty good and those who didn't like him arguing they were skewed because we were using him as our sole creative outlet

Because our 'tactic' (you know from the tactical genius koeman) was for players to ALWAYS pass to Bolasie who would run forward then boot the ball anywhere apart from where our players were. On the off chance lukaku took the ball off him lol he got an assist.

Oh, and yes his stats were terrible in regards to accuracy and conversion. Was something stupid like 20% shooting accuracy and 65%/70% passing accuracy - it was covered in the previous carnation of this thread.

Yes, he cant hit a barn door...remember lukaku taking the ball off him haha

Hes an absolute donkey...a bigger Mcgeady.

You haven't seen him play have you. I bet some of our players passing stats must be immense this season...I also think Sigurdsson must have run 11miles last game...great stats lol

I 'love'' how some 'fans' on here rewrite history like they did with Kone and others....

No he wasn't successful....no he didn't take risky options....read the comments on him last season...hes a headless chicken.

Difference is, Deulofeu showed he could cross the ball and control it...like you mentioned, that rollover thing...an opposition defender can easily dive in and take the ball as its so easy to predict.

What on earth are you on about lol

Wait so when our sole creative player went we improved because it was spread round the park (" not a coincidence"), but when Lukaku leaves that's a bad thing because he was our sole goalscorer?

That's not what I've said. We were losing every game and playing terribly because EVERYTHING was going through Bolasie, and he's not good enough to warrant it, hence the 'chances created' if they were indeed actual chances, and still losing. Ergo he's crap.

Take him out of the equation and other players actually got involved and we started winning. We do that with Lukaku and we can't score. Ergo he's not crap.

In 291 games in his entire career, hes scored 29 goals. 1 in 10... for an out-and-out attacking player, and to compound matters - most of it was League 2, League 1 and Championship.

40 assists also in his career, in 9 years. Equates to 4.444 recurring a season. That's his stats that matter.

The assists stat is a load of arse. To get an assist you need the striker or player he's passed it too to bury the chance. I counted at least 6/7 chances he put on a plate for our players last season that weren't taken, his stats would have been much improved then and he wouldnt be getting the stick he gets.

That's the thing mate, his 8 years of football career prior suggests otherwise.

I dunno mate... Williams is pretty unpredictable these days
Disagree with this. Williams is very predictable:
Move back when the defence is pushing forward.
Pass the ball to Pickford or Keane without looking.
Lunge into a tackle with no chance of getting the ball because the forward is past him.
Give away a penalty through a clumsy challenge in the box.

Think you're being hard there - the is predictively crap and almost certain to make a mistake....

IT would be if he lashed in a good performance once in a while which would turn my head! hahaha
