He is a real good player and one of the most dangerous we have had going forward for a while, why do you think other sides had to mark him so tight? He offers a threat we have missed earlier in the season and missed once he was out last season, its great to have him back

it often means the opposing side using 2 players to stifle him, in doing so leaving gaps in the centre of defense for strikers to exploit.

at times I saw 3 Liverpool players buzzing round him, and he sometimes came out on top even with that

he turned Robertson inside out.

were it not down to the fact we had no striker in the box attacking his crosses we very well would have benefitted from his graft down the wing.

having no proper target man to cross too isn't exactly helping him out.

lets see how he lloks with Tosun upfront.

geeez

I've said it a million times. What's the point in crossing a ball to nobody? He doesn't pick his head up. The thing children are taught to do.

He wants to do his stepovers and flicks so he looks good on Match of the Day, regardless of actually finding a team mate with a pass or cross.

I honestly am not sure some of you know what a good vs. bad winger is. This idea that they should be able to dance around any defender whenever they want and at full speed launch a cross with their head up exactly where someone is running in between various defenders 28 times a match. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about an inside forward, but a true winger.

Liverpool has two guys on Yannick every play. Robertson did okay on him, but they were definitely concerned about his pace and ability to go by defenders.
Spot on mate, the mutants are creaming themselves over Robertson' performance against him as he has terrorised them in the past, what they're conveniently failing to mention is YB's lack of sharpness as he was making the yard on Robertson but hasn't yet got the legs back to explode past and stay ahead also he skinned their new messiah in the opening few mins. Nowadays we're giving the ball to wide players 40 yards from goal and expecting miracles and because they know and we know what the mob expects they try and of course more often than not fail to make something happen leading to howls from the terraces, It's laughable the lack of knowledge regarding what is demanded of the modern wide midfielder it really is

And what's the point in that when he doesn't find a man with it?? We only get points for beating the goalkeeper, not full backs.

Am I speaking Aramaic?

That didn't really happen though did it? Literally no one objectively looking at that game thought Robertson wasn't coping.

Yes but no commentator said it. It wasn't remarked upon in any media. It's just what you think was happening because he managed to get a couple of aimless crosses into the box.

On his day Bolasie is unplayable, just a shame these days will pop along around once every three months. Let's see where we are in this thread come May. I'll be absolutely made up to be proved wrong.

you need to study football a little bit more mate.

Tell you what, instead of resorting to childish jibes, how about show me something concrete that shows I'm wrong. You can't because everything I'm saying is correct. I'm not looking at a youth player here - this is a 28 year old with 10 years under his belt, with very little in the way of goals scored or assists to show for it.

I'm not nearly the only person that thinks he's not good enough - do they need to study a little more? Just because your viewpoint is right and i'm wrong? Bit of a kopite reaction that mate.

he will be our most potent threat, along with gylfi in the right formation

its all subjective. nobody is right or wrong.

I enjoy the way he attacks his fullback, and I look forward to him having a real target man to aim for in the box.

great player. joy to watch.

much better than having DCL out wide with pickford launching balls at him, where he inevitably loses possession or it goes out of play.

When you have no credible target, the lack of end product isn't really your fault as a winger. And no, I don't think anyone operating as a winger should be expected to score goals. Occassionally, but that's not the role. The role is to exploit or draw other players to the wide parts of the pitch. If they bring two people over there, fantastic. Move the ball to someone else with time and space to exploit other areas. Besides the fact that he started the sequence for our goal, he was a serious threat and created space for other players. Now if you've got one v. one, yes, you should run at guys and beat them every now and then, which he does. No winger beats their guy clean in the PL THAT often. His power and pace combination is rare and I think if we give him a bit more run and if Tosun can play, we will see a lot more production.

You also have no idea what tactics they are playing in terms of where they want him to cross the ball. I also don't think one can expect a winger playing against a good back to have the time to pinpoint crosses every second. Taking a quick look and putting it in a dangerous area is about all you can do. You have to rely on SOMEONE's ability to adjust to the ball a little bit. We literally have no one. Maybe Tosun will help.
