There are probably a few players whose agent has told them Everton are interested but only if they can't sign Yerry Mina. That isn't the best sell even if it's honest. Being played can work both ways. Its the reason why Brands could end up with egg on his face come Thursday evening. I would rather we got our 2nd target in than none at all.

I understand that seems a little crazy, but one thing I think you have to remember is that because they are Barcelona, they can BUY at below market. Just because someone paid 10 million for someone doesnt mean it was his actual value at the time. Some teams pay that for a player worth 20, some for a player worth 5. The great thing about being the club EVERYONE wants to go to, is you can pay less and the player may force the deal to go through. Its the opposite reason we have to pay over the odds for players.

Fair point but there's a lot of assumption about Mina's motivations for moving. Some players would never entertain going to China for money and some players may believe CL football and Ligue 1 is more desirable than playing in the PL without European football.

If he was our player and he started faffing around about other clubs we would say good riddance if you don’t want to play for our club. So why sign someone who obviously doesn’t really want to join us unless other “big “ clubs don’t want him?
