2018/19 Yerry Mina

Ah right so it was Minas fault that Pickford palms it straight out into the danger area or that we keep a good line and the linesman doesn't do his job.

As I say I've seen nothing about his attitude.

You're gonna have to bring up a lot better than this to compare him to Klaasen who to me is probably the worst signing we have ever made.
Mina came on and didn't exactly calm things down, did he? That's what defenders are usually brought on to do.

Then go searching for it, if you want to see it so much.

I used Klaassen as an example of somebody who has been here a short amount of time. Not saying Mina is as bad as Klaassen.

I'm not making them up, they're there for you to read.

People wanted Lescott at CB and Baines at LB, I'm not making that up.

Klaassen, a good player? Now I know you're talking bollocks.

Not really, search my posts in this thread. I've wanted Zouma dropped and Mina to start every game ahead of him.

So wrong, you could not be more wrong if you tried. But you are entitled to have a wrong opinion.

Nobody was screaming for baines to play. He had to adapt and take his chance. Funnily enough, Baines has a well know confidence issue, he gets home-sick. Even refused to go to england duty once.

Fancy that....a player bot settling well instantly...its like they are humans, with feelings and family.

Klaasen has played well all his career....appart from those few months at Everton. I think it was us and our troubles that was the issue. Nobody played well.

He was brought on to win headers because all Newcastle were doing was launching it to Rondon. Winning the headers wasn't the problem, it was picking up the second balls which isn't Minas job. As was said at the time, Schneiderlin should've come on.

I don't want to search the internet for some off hand quote about Minas training levels which somehow means he has an attitude problem. When hes been on the pitch, for the most part, hes been a positive influence.

White fan in saying a black player has a bad attitude for no reason shocker.
Disgusting post. Are you saying I'm a racist?

No place for this - warning issued.

On regards to attitude, only a few weeks ago;

Silva on Yerry Mina: "I have to see more consistency, daily, at Finch Farm. I hope to see him working everyday until the end of the season"

Was talking to the moderators on here on the exact quote and I said when managers talk about needing to see more in training, especially consistency, instinctively I think its effort. It could be quality, but I'd be inclined to think otherwise.

I sometimes wonder if a player from an elite club like Barcelona can sometimes be a bit 'hungover' mentally when they rock up in Halewood...

Going off topic here but that Baines stuff was basically just blown out of all proportion by the media and I know he got very upset/annoyed about the way it was put across. He was specifically asked whether he would miss his family while he was away for a month and said yeah of course he would, and the papers all ran with a story about him being homesick and not mentally capable of going. It was a total fabrication.

....it’s a good point, but he wasn’t at Barcelona long and rarely got a game. He seems a laid back character, he’s also become very rich, very quick. I don’t see an attitude issue on the pitch, I think he could be a ‘winner’ but he might be more chilled in training.

I haven’t given up on him but i’d be more concerned with his injury record.

Barcelona, "his dream" - to then suddenly find himself here;

Everyone is different, I'm likely well off but I do sometimes wonder if that hangover can exist.

Ultimately though, his manager called for more consistency from him in training. Make of that what you will.

He hasn’t really been a monster in the air for us though? He looks like he should be, and he may well be in future, but he’s been strangely lacking in that area in a defensive capacity in my opinion.

If I’m honest I’ve not been hugely impressed with him. He’s been a little bit slow, rash, not as good in the air as I had hoped, and occasionally looks extraordinarily clumsy with the ball. BUT he’s fairly young, in a new country, and hasn’t played a lot of games, so he gets a free pass from me this season. No idea why we’re rewriting history to say he’s been dead good though. I’m possibly keanes biggest critic and even I’d say Keane has looked much better than him so far.

I have actually been impressed with him when he's played - in the main. Obvious exceptions but he's not played in our worst defensive displays bar the Newcastle collapse. In the 2nd half v Millwall, he was injured. The injuries are clearly an issue. But we've looked far more solid in the few instances we've had Keane and Mina as a partnership - imo - than any other CB pairing this season (though maybe that's because it's a small sample).

Don't get me wrong here, i'm not saying he's been awful. It's been a mixed bag for me though. I'd say Milwall, Watford, City, Brighton and Lincoln he's ranged somewhere between OK and poor. Both Chelsea games and Liverpool he was good. That leaves a couple of games and a handful of sub appearances that either I don't really remember or I wouldn't judge him on. He's looked like he's got ability and can improve, but he's had at least as many bad games as good in my opinion, and if we're honest that isn't ideal for a player you've spent best part of £30m on.

i hope come the summer him and the manager agree to write off last season and start afresh. Get a full injury free pre season's work on the training ground, integrate him properly with the other defenders and the club and see how he can do with the right preparation. If he's awful next year too then fair enough he goes down as a bad buy and its damage limitation and get him sold.

defiantly not a flop because he's had some very good games, 2 games vs Chelsea and away at the pit for a start

he's just been desperately unlucky, don't think it help signing for us whilst injured

international duty is a joke though, silva said in his presser he wasn't ready to play 2 games over the weekend having just done 90 minutes for us but Columbia didn't listen, what happens? he gets injured playing for them

madness that we pay his wages and get dictated around what minutes he is played, club playing his wages should always overrule the nation unless it's a tournament or qualifiers etc ( think it was a couple of friendlies on this occasion? )
