the man is a beast and always plays hard.
He is brilliant and I think a bit underrated by our fans sometimes. Also I like his character, he seems so upbeat and popular amongst his team mates, go on Big Yerald
I think he came across more of a clown or joker when he started. Yesterday he had some real fire when he was rounding on his teammates and exhorting them to play better.
Leadership is an attribute of character, not a position on an org chart. No matter the walk of life, leaders emerge through displays of character, dependability, and persuasion. We all know of settings where there's a nominal leader and then there are the people who actually lead even though they're several ranks "junior."
Mina is fast becoming a leader on this team and it's sorely needed.
Coleman's time is past. If he inspires his fellows I don't see it. He sometimes turns in good individual performances but his thing for a while now is to vigorously promise after a disappointing loss that next time everyone will do better, repeat as needed. Anyone who captained the side during that limp, dispirited showing vs Newcasatle should wear a paper bag over their head rather than the armband ever again. And as much as I typically don't go for this sort of thing, failing to get in the referee's face, ever, or going over and consoling Son while Gomes writhed around on the ground and his surrounding teammates puked from the horror of what they'd seen doesn't fill me with leader vibes.
Sigurdsson? Leadership is accountability. Notwithstanding his very good performance last night and a few other bright spots this season, He Who Runs About and Points But Finishes the Game Without a Grass Stain on his Kit is no kind of leader.
In this current batch, give me Allan or, increasingly despite their youth, Godfrey or Mina. Those are the guys who you'd follow into battle.
