2021/22 Yerry Mina

I’ve never rated him hugely, but he’s now comfortably our best defender.
In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Yerry is the best defender amongst a group of pygmies. I think he's a big loss given the alternatives, but we need to ruthlessly clear out the likes of Mina if we are to become a serious outfit.

Very true, for when he plays, Everton play.
Still needs to be shunted, the brittle boned biff, and bring in somebody who can be relied upon to play for more games than just international ones.
Question if I may; do we employ scouts?

The last scout we had who seemed to have any kind of strong reputation was David Moyes's father.

Or, to be fair, Steve Walsh. Walsh was a superb scout, so our geniuses made him director of football, for some unfathomable reason.

He gets better every game he doesn’t play this season is the first time I can remember everyone agreeing that he’s our best defender and he’s only played about 5 games! Last season I’m sure Keane was figuring more in the player of the season stakes and the year before it was holgate now Mina has become great because he’s not playing.

Before Mina joined Everton he had missed 3 or 4 games in about 5 years.
That is an amazing record, and, an amazing fall off in reliability.
A ponderable. Could this in any way be attributed to our training methods, or our medical expertise, or, as those two areas mentioned have been superseded by new personnel, could it be our training ground surface?
I ask because a disproportionate number of injuries sustained occur on the training ground, and mostly are muscle related.

Was Finch Farm constructed by The Filth with bricks stolen from Heysel.

We wouldn’t even be able to give him away.

File under
Niasse
Delph
Tosun
Gbamin
Besic
Gylfi

Players we have bought who’s careers have ended at Everton. Never known anything like it.

An absolute waste of money and oxygen.

Good commanding defender and a leader is big Yeri, unfortunately he is made of crystal glass. We really need to do our best to move him on and get a big hard centre back who can organize a defence. I think, with the right partner both Godfrey and Branthwaite can be good at this level, but, they need a leader to nurse them through their early games at centre back. Keane is by no means a leader and at 28 still looks like he needs a leader to help him through games.

Can’t tell you how much I agree with this. Feel exactly the same.
