Everything just depends on us staying up atmTrue, he also seems quite happy here as well.
What's blindingly obvious, however, is that the club needs to make plans for him not being in the first team because he so rarely is. As @BlueToff says, we need to prioritise 2 new CBs if we stay up.
That's not really the point though. My point is that the level he actually produces on a regular basis is pretty similar to what the others produce, but I accept that he is more naturally talented than them and so may be seen as the 'best' on that basis. The defence does look better with him in it as a general rule (though certainly not always, we literally only have to go back one game to see us looking more assured with Keane in there than we had with Mina) because he brings some qualities that the others don't have. Again, that works in the same way as the midfield looking better with Delph in it and the attack sometimes looking better with Rondon in it. It isn't necessarily the individual quality of the players that make the difference, it's the skills they bring making the unit better.Nobody in our team is producing at their "very very best level" except maybe Pickford. I don't think anyone imagines that Mina is in the same bracket as the very best CBs but on the few occasions he can actually complete a game of football our defence, all of it, looks much better.
It's all moot anyway, he's made of glass, we can't rely on him, so he needs replacing.

I think his latest injury is a huge blow and I still see there being another twist in the relegation fight. I'm hoping against hope there won't be, obviously.
I'm not sure why you think he's on producing a similar level to other players. When he plays we concede less goals and pick up more points on average. Like I say, though, that doesn't matter if he's never fit enough to play. That's not really the point though. On a very simplistic note, the points-per-game that Everton have when Mina takes to the pitch is as high as 1.4. No other player in the squad who has played more minutes than the centre-back can boast a better number.
It's a basic fact that the Blues concede less goals when the Colombia international is on the pitch as well. Everton's "goals against" per 90 minutes is 1.11 when Mina plays - with Fabian Delph the closest to that figure with his individual number of 1.43.
The word simplistic is very relevant in that sentence though. Mina has played 90 minutes 7 times this season, 5 of them at home and 6 have been against teams in the bottom half of the table. It's maybe not that surprising that we conceded less goals and won more points at home to Burnley and Norwich than we did away at Liverpool and City when you think about it.I'm not sure why you think he's on producing a similar level to other players. If we don't stay up anybody on anything like his wages will have to go.Good point and very true, if we dont stay up, it could be him binning us off.

So just not trying to get ahead of myself now. We've got 12 days of the season left. Then after that, we see where we're at.
Spot on. Those who admire Mina need remember this. We cannot carry this injury prone accident waiting to happen any longer. ?The word simplistic is very relevant in that sentence though. It seems that the league is too physical for him, a shame but he won’t be the first or last to not be able to put up with the demands of the league. he’ll be very good in Serie A.was this the third time during Frank's reign he came off injured in the first half? Dude needs to get his health in order
Farhad Moshiri, Steve Walsh, Ronald KoemanHonestly. He needs to go.
But who would take one look at his record and buy him
He'll play 12 games next year and leave on a free
I wished he felt his calf straight after that tbh….so much happened afterwards but that was a terrific goaline clearance in the early stages at Leicester.
Has brands been hired somewhere yet?Honestly. He needs to go.
