Let’s be clear here, if he was a top drawer defender he wouldn’t be about 6 weeks from the end of his contract with nothing concrete in place for him to go elsewhere. He’s better than our options, he is absolutely nowhere near top drawer.

Let's be clear though it's not his ability that's stopping him from getting a new contract, it's his injury record.
Top drawer? Maybe a stretch, but I think he's a very good defender myself.
He is a top drawer defender. He is just made of glass. If he wasn’t he would be at a much bigger club by now. We literally have nothing to lose rolling the dice on his fitness.
Yes that’s what’s stopping him getting a new contract with us, the 19th best team in the league. If he was top drawer he never would have come here in the first place, nevermind be in this position now. It’s pretty obvious really
He was at a much bigger club, he lasted about 3 games before he got laughed out of the place. He’s better than our other options for sure but top drawer?! I’m cringing so hard I fear I might burst.

I don't think he is top draw myself,.purely based on consistency.
He is though head and shoulders our best defender when available.
Would not surprise me if he goes to a club In Europe in a good league stays fit and does well after he leaves us.
I’ve already agreed that he’s our best defender. Unfortunately the gap between being our best defender and being top drawer is absolutely enormous, and that’s what I’m laughing at. He’s a pretty good player, but even at his very best he’s maybe slightly better than average in PL terms. That’s not me being harsh it’s just honest. Look at richarlison and Gordon, everyone said they were amazing but they’ve gone elsewhere and done nothing. Being one of our best players is not a big ask.
I think your confusing him and Gomes in regards to being laughed out the place.
Mina is naturally a good a defender and could of been classed as a top drawer defender, but bar Injuries and his life off the field seeming more important, he just never reached his potential.
Even his drastic injuries always seemed to suddenly vanish once Colombia came knocking...
iirc(?) In our 1-1 didn't Godfrey give Haarland a hard time and he got a bit stroppy and even chased him out to the bye line to scythe him down for some pay-back?
When physically and more importantly, mentally fit (I know, it's a big ask) Is Mina still our best CB?...and he is deffo best at the sly snide wind up - which Haarland doesn't get much of and doesn't, if Godfrey is any example - seem to like.
Allardyce said to cut out the supply, KdeB, Mahrez, etc, easier said than done.

What sucks is that he's been available and in training and on the bench for literally 5 months at this point, not getting a sniff of game time because "he might get injured" lol
