No, he got bombed out of Barcelona at quite literally the first opportunity. He played 4 games for them. Since then he’s spent 5 of the peak years of his career at an Everton side that can barely scrape into the top half and hasn’t always been an automatic pick even when fit. I genuinely have no idea where the idea of him being top drawer has come from. I’m not trying to say he’s useless or anything, but there’s more to being a top player than just looking like you’ve got the basic attributes, you’ve actually got to produce the performances.I think your confusing him and Gomes in regards to being laughed out the place.
Mina is naturally a good a defender and could of been classed as a top drawer defender, but bar Injuries and his life off the field seeming more important, he just never reached his potential.
