Very interesting, the bits I’ve caught of him at Barnsley led me to think he was playing further forward than the diagram showed, a good analysis though. The fans at Barnsley seem pretty knowledgable and fair in their analysis of Williams, same for Forest fans too re Kieran Dowell.https://reds1887.wixsite.com/thespreadsheet/single-post/2017/10/29/The-season-so-far
A stats bit from a Barnsley fan. Bit about Joe Williams if you scroll down.
Basically saying his positioning and passing is exactly what you want from a defensive midfielder.
Also loved the fact that when the interviewer mentioned a recall clause that Everton could use in January he answered that he didn't realise they had one, but that he wants to stay with us for the season.
.
The quote from the Barnsley interview with Williams re a recall clause is interesting.
I had assumed that a Season Loan was just that with no recall, but looking at the EFL,regs a recall clause for activation in January can be inserted. Presumably this meets PL regs too, I wonder how often we have done this as it’s never really been made public. This from the EFL:
53.1.2 any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window;
Well done mate. Excellent summary.Championship

Pennington 6 - Better game stuck to his task apart from concentration for the equaliser
Jansson was at fault for the equaliser and not Pennington.
All three defenders were at fault including Pennington as none of them looked around to see where the danger was.
I thought Ayling was poor again and was lucky not get punished a couple of time for poor positioning. Linesman rescued him
once and Pennington made a last ditch tackle to save him as well.
Callum Connolly came on as a sub after 64 minutes for Ipswich Town in their 3-1 defeat away to Cardiff.

Downes and Bru were both understandably taken off, but Callum Connolly and Freddie Sears were quixotic players to bring on
and it felt like a signal to cease hostilities.
Connolly I thought he also looked very poor when he came on last night maybe he is just not up to Championship football yet.
Not entirely fair on Connolly, as he was playing sort of left winger (!) when he came on.
Antonee Robinson played the full game for Bolton Wanderers in their 3-3 draw away to Sunderland
OS Report
Antonee Robinson and Adam Armstrong almost combined for the opener inside 15 minutes when the former fed the on-loan
Newcastle man from the left flank, but he was inches away from connecting as Ruiter smothered the ball.
And incredibly, just seven minutes later, Bolton re-took the lead as, following superb work by Robinson, the youngster lofted
the ball into the mix with Henry on hand to volley home to the absolute delight of the travelling Wanderers.
...with Karl Henry notching his first goal for the club when drilling the ball into the bottom corner after connecting with Antonee Robinson's beautifully weighted cross into the box...

Really enjoyed that last night, thought robinson was superb although a bit suspect at times when defending.
Joe Williams played the full game for Barnsley in their 4-2 win away to Burton.

Williams picked up on a loose ball about 35 yards from goal before unleashing an unstoppable half-volley that flew into the top right-hand corner! The celebrations were just as epic.

WWOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW BEST GOAL BURTON HAS EVER SEEN!!!!
74 - WE'RE NOT EXAGGERATING! Unbelievable from @JoeWilliams0812, we're not sure we'll do it justice trying to describe it...
We'll try - Superb one touch build up, Williams then takes it on his chest and smashes a left-foot dipping volley top corner. 2-3!!! #COYR
76 - Suddenly the game has come back to life with Williams' stunner, it's now 2-3 but the hosts are looking to come forward.

He's absolute quality and will be a Prem player in the next year or two IMO
Everton will want him back, surely?
Been one of our best players this season
comes across really well in his interviews. Seems to have his head screwed on. Reckons it was the best decision he ever made coming to us, that despite the fact that he would possibly have been in with a shout of a game at Everton now Unsworth is in charge.
Also loved the fact that when the interviewer mentioned a recall clause that Everton could use in January he answered that he didn't realise they had one, but that he wants to stay with us for the season.

If Dowell took his chances in this one like he did at hull we probably get something from the game.
Didn't get Dowell into the game enough, and didn't really take them on and find the spaces.
Neither Brendan Galloway nor Tyias Browning (hamstring) were in Sunderland's match day squad for their match at home to Bolton.
Dynamic, that's a word I haven't recently heard.

Dynamic Everton full-back Antonee Robinson can be out of this world for Bolton Wanderers, says Phil Parkinson.
TIPPED FOR THE TOP: Antonee Robinson has impressed since signing on loan from Premier League Everton
THE man they call Jedi is proving a force to be reckoned with at Wanderers.
Little was known about the Everton full-back when he arrived in the summer, seemingly as cover for one of last season’s promotion heroes, Andy Taylor.
He caught the eye on his professional debut against Crewe in the Carabao Cup in August but the athletic youngster is now looking very much at home in the senior ranks.
Robinson has been on the books of the Blues since the age of 11 and came through the ranks under David Unsworth, now in caretaker charge at Goodison Park.
“David rates him very highly,” said Phil Parkinson. “He has been a key figure in his development and with all the changes at Everton, I’m sure they are keeping a very close eye on him.
“Antonee is a real character. He doesn’t give in. And that kind of attitude can take you places.
“I’m sure he’ll concentrate on what he has to do for Bolton first and foremost and look to maintain his level of performance, then he’ll look to the future.”
Robinson’s performance at Sunderland on Tuesday night might give Parkinson the option of resting Taylor until after the international break.
The Wanderers boss has no qualms about sending the 20-year-old in against another one of the Championship’s promotion heavyweights.
“At Sunderland he saw off two very good wide players in Callum McManaman and Duncan Watmore and when I walked into the dressing room I looked at him and it didn’t look like he’d broke sweat.
“He was so comfortable, physically, and he offers us something extra in the team because he’s so dynamic going forward. The modern-day full-back, like the boys at Fulham last weekend, cover 1,100 metres at high intensity – we’ll we’ve got our own one in Antonee, who can cover that kind of distance no problem.”
Robinson’s mature display at the Stadium of Light also caught the eye of one of Wanderers’ senior players, Karl Henry, who believes it will not be long before he is playing regularly at the top level back on Merseyside.
“I thought he was unbelievable,” he said. “I was trying to talk to him as a young player but he didn’t need it one little bit. He was like an old pro back there.
“He’s clearly a Premier League player and I think the manager has done well to get him on board.
“In the modern game all players are athletes and he’s certainly that. He’s quick, he’s strong, good on the ball and showed such a mature head for such a young player at Sunderland.
“I am sure it won’t be long before he’s playing week-in, week-out for Everton Football Club because he’s that good, for me.”
Robinson, Connelly, Williams and Dowell all starting at 3pm
Just got another assist against QPR5 goals and 2 assists in 11 x 90 minutes of games for Dowell.
Joe Williams with best excellent all round midfield stats (tackles, interceptions, passes, dribbles all in top few %)
Loans for these two working out well....all this championship experience might come in handy
