Young EFC Players Out On Loan 17-18

As for Browning, I still have hopes he can make it at Everton. Moyes called him the best one v one defender at the club and that was 5 years ago. Holgate's emergence, and the fact we still have Keane is a problem for him though.
I could see Browning fitting into a 3 with Holgate. Both of them would fit really well next to an anchor

I wasn't having a go buddy, but I reject the notion that Dowell is lazy and doesn't work hard.

Dowell isn't a winger but more of a right sided forward - or a #10 which is where I think he will end up eventually with more experience. Think Pienaar/Baines only the opposite.

Oh God I know mate. We know each other well enough to have a proper discussion for sure.

It's just a bit early in my book to hope for Kenny and Dowell to be a Baines and Pienaar. Hope so though.

Feel like I've not seen Browning play for years. But I'm glad he had a good game this weekend. I always saw something there in him but injuries and probably bad loan moves have hindered him.

'Track back' was only used as a comical way of putting 'work hard' mate. If you asked 'Does David Silva work hard?' the answer would be 100% yes.

I'm not getting that from Dowell yet. Which is why it's great where he is now. Learning. I wouldn't want him learning here. He simply wouldn't be allowed to. You know exactly how the Goodison crowd would get if he's having a game where the worldies aren't happening. And there would be lots.

I'm not even adverse to Dowell having another loan season at a slightly better club next season.

I wouldn't have Dowell anywhere near the right.

Would be exactly the same as when we used to put Ross there.

My personal preference will always be to have a winger out wide. Not an attacking mid.

...I suspect Dowell has played most of his recent years playing right side, including in a successful World Cup winning team. He forms a very effective partnership with Kenny (@Groucho recent podcast refers). He’s a big lad but it’s really not like having Barkley out there. As others say, he cuts inside and unleashes terrific shots with his left foot, but he’s also got this amazing quality of hitting exquisitely weighted passes behind the opposition back four. That passing ability is my favourite bit of his skill set.

You can tell that I like the lad but it’s always a massive step up to play in the Premier League. Saying that, I do think he’s probably the best option we have for a right sided midfielder at this point in time.

Others may disagree with me, but I think a lad like Dowell is essential if Sam continues on with Everton beyond this season, simply because he has the ability to create something at any moment. It's hard to win 1-0 if you don't get the 1. If you're not going to be Man City or Liverpool and create a 100 chances a game, you need that little bit of magic and I think that while Dowell isn't a "complete" player, what he brings to the table offsets what he isn't. I'm all for hard work and putting a shift in, but you need players who can unlock doors, and goals change games.

Think about the 3 pre-season games: 1) that beautifully weighted pass to Rooney from the right (Belgium I think). 2) the goal from 25 yards out in Africa (and the near goal just before that) and 3) the goal in Holland where he was basically in a phone booth creating space for the wicked curler into the far corner.

That's the Dowell skill set. I said this before as well, Dowell strikes me as the kind of player who will get better playing with better players.

..look at this in its simplest form, any Premiership midfielder who can get 10 league goals a season is a great acquisition. I suspect Dowell would get that (9 already for Forest).

Henry slagged right off by his manager post 5-0 spanking at the weekend:

“It does not make much sense to put Onyekuru at the centre, but when he is standing there, he does not move, and he just moves to the left... he always lets himself down,” “He does score now and then, but the last few weeks have not been as good either, his contribution went down,” he added.

Just came here to post that.

Not good

Tbf he has been saying similar things for the last couple of weeks, just in a more indirect way.

Anyway, RSCA has been sold to a new owner today. He's worth 4 billion € and a local owner so it should be okay. Usmanov was also mentioned as a possible new owner but this got shot down rather quickly since since he wanted to make the club into a satellite club for Arsenal.

Why pick on Henry in particular? If they're getting beat 5-0 surely Spajic etc. need a good slating.

Anderlecht has huge scoring issues atm, so they keep asking him questions about why not Onyekuru etc, why play Beric (who's horrible) as a striker and why don't you play Onyekuru as a striker and similar questions. So it looks like the criticism is more pronounced but the reality is they only ask questions about players who can score (since it's a huge issue). So it would be in everybody's interest that Anderlecht just buys a good striker during the winter break.

After the 5-0 he -rightly- destroyed Spajic and Obradevic but I suppose that doesn't really get reported elsewhere.

Have they been linked with a striker? Can they recall Leya Iseka?

It wasn’t Moyes, It was Martinez and Unsworth who said it. It means more coming from Unsworth. I can’t see him making it here to be honest, I think Holgate has a better chance and I think we will buy another and Keane will eventually slot in. Out of Browning, Holgate and Galloway, Browning was the one who I expected to really shine.

Unfortunately they can not. Same with Lukebakio who's been playing very good for Charleroi who are now second and RSCA third.

They were linked with Richmond Boakye and a deal was close but now he can't stop scoring so I am assuming that he will go somewhere else ... Mitrovic on loan would be good (to help them out until the summer + he wants to go to the WC), but don't see that happening.

The new owner means they'll buy one though, just hope it's a good one because in January that's always difficult.

They've mainly been linked with young South-American midfielders so far; Josué Colmán from Paraguay etc (never heard of him).
