Championship
Leeds United - Matthew Pennington played full match and was booked in 1-2 away defeat at Norwich City

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff

43' Pennington is booked for a foul on Murphy 0-1

No particular comments about him

Ipswich Town - Callum Connolly played full match and scored in stoppage time of a 4-0 away win over Reading

OS Match Report

"Waghorn brought the ball into the area before feeding Connolly to his right and the on-loan Everton man stroked in his fourth of the season."

Once again no real comments

Antonee Robinson was an unused substitute.
Kieran Dowell, Harry Charsley and Louis Gray (and Brendan Galloway on Friday) were not in matchday squads.

When was the last time Galloway made an appearance for Sunderland?

..i’m thinking of his salary (rumoured to be £85k per week). Nobody is going to pay him anything like that, so he’ll either sit on his contract for 3 years or we’ll have to pay him off.
He'll have to stay and play for his place. Or take a wage cut if he insists on leaving. Cant have it both ways Eggs

..I suspect the club won’t want him here. I dare say his agent is already talking numbers, or let him go for free and pick up a big signing fee.
I suspect Allardyce doesnt want him here. Another manager comes in and you dont know.

We cant just give in to him though Eggs. Its up to the player to lower his demands if he wants away.

I remember when Leeds were still paying Fowler after he went to City. We'd be a laughing stock.

..not sure but I think they wanted him to return to us in January. That might have been as much about finances as football.
There was a problem in that Sunderland had too many loan players and were only allowed to have so many in a match-day squad. So Coleman essentially said that he would never play him and Galloway and/or his agent should find a solution. Once again he has just been in no-man's land and it is easy to feel sorry for someone whose career is disappearing rapidly down the plughole - although you have to think that if he had made more of an impression on loan or at Everton the narrative would have been different.

Bundesliga
RB Leipzig - Ademola Lookman started and was taken off in the 64th minute of a 0-3 away defeat to Mainz 05

"10th Minute: massive chance for our team! Mainz make a catastrophic bad pass, Ademola Lookman wins the ball and slides it to Poulsen. But he is put off at the final moment and misses from 12 metres."

Onyekuru played 60 minutes with the reserve team against the Standard reserve team.

I think he'll be in the squad for Club Brugge this weekend. Anderlecht is lacking players up front; Teodorczyck his 26 year old brother has died so I doubt he'll play this weekend + some other injuries.

So no Onyekuru next season either?? Somebody must be making these decisions..

Translation:

The Nigerian striker, loaned by Everton, will play in the jersey anderlechtois next season, according to La Capitale.

Henry Onyekuru should still appear on the lawn of the Constant Vanden Stock stadium in 2018-19, explains the daily. Indeed, RSC Anderlecht and Everton have agreed on a loan of twenty-four months, less than a year ago. The 20-year-old Nigerian striker will still be able to play in the purple and white jersey next season.

Onyekuru is on loan to the RSCA to get his work permit to advance in the Premier League by 2019. But his first months in Anderlecht did not go at best: if he could still score ten goals in twenty-eight games in all competitions early in the season, a serious knee injury incurred last December against Eupen prevented him from resuming the competition in 2018. He has only resumed with the hopeful team of RSCA , last April 24th.

However, a condition in this loan agreement indicates that Everton may decide to repatriate Onyekuru at any time between May 1 and June 15, 2018 subject to the approval of the English Football Federation.

So, according to that it was a 2 year deal til 2019, with a clause that he can come to us up until 15 June, presumably that’s a World Cup selection date ?.
I must admit I’m confused by the criteria for young players . City seem to get around it e.g. Gabriel Jesus at 19 wasn’t a regular international , and there was talk of them signing a 17 year old Brazilian recently.

A player from a nation ranked in the top 10 need only have played 30% of games over the two years preceding the application. This increases to 45% for nations ranked 11-20; 60% for those ranked 21-30; and 75% for those ranked 31-50. Nigeria is currently in the top 50 rankings for the first time since 2014 while Brazil hasn't been outside the top 10 since 2012.
