Your first match at goodison

Everton V Birmingham, December 1976. A 2-2 draw, they scored early on and then equalised in the last minute, so Everton couldn't even win my first match for me! In between their goals Duncan McKenzie scored twice on his home debut, and Trevor Francis had a penalty saved by David Lawson. One of Billy Bingham's last games as Everton manager. Despite the disappointment of their late equaliser, I was hooked!

Home game v Ipswich in the FA Cup in 1999.

The uncle brought me and the brother to our first game. He asked us who we thought would get the first goal and we picked Barmby. He scored (I didn't see the goal until MOTD on the boat home due to someone standing in front of me), we won and off we went on the boat stocked with al sorts of Everton merchandise we never knew was available.

i was mesmorised by the colours and light, I had only ever seen Everton in Black and White on the old Tele.
I can still remember 61 years later like it was yesterday, Gwladys St Stand with my Dad and brother, that 1st sight of Goodison Park in all it's glory, vivid colours and the smells of tobacco and ale.
Love at first sight.

'62 (19, not 18 you monsters).

v United in an evening game during the school holiday. Me and dad went in the Main Stand and dad took on the duties of identifying players for me. I can remember being knackered after a long walk up Scotty and then trying to see through the cloud of tobacco smoke in the ground.
I'm told there were 69,500 in the cro`wd and I know we won 3 - 1. The vision got 2. Denis Law, Johnny Giles and Nobby Stiles played for them but we were royalty!

The Main Stand, the Vision, the noise, the swaying, the colourful language and thousands of angry sounding men. That was my Goodison. And I'll howl like a banshee when she goes as part of my memories of dad and grandad won't be as firm as they are now.
