Your first match at goodison

'62 (19, not 18 you monsters).

v United in an evening game during the school holiday. Me and dad went in the Main Stand and dad took on the duties of identifying players for me. I can remember being knackered after a long walk up Scotty and then trying to see through the cloud of tobacco smoke in the ground.
I'm told there were 69,500 in the cro`wd and I know we won 3 - 1. The vision got 2. Denis Law, Johnny Giles and Nobby Stiles played for them but we were royalty!

The Main Stand, the Vision, the noise, the swaying, the colourful language and thousands of angry sounding men. That was my Goodison. And I'll howl like a banshee when she goes as part of my memories of dad and grandad won't be as firm as they are now.
I know what you mean mate, families, friends so many memories interwoven into the place for so many people😔

Same!

Sat in top balcony over looking the old Park end stand. Travelled over with 2 RS which made it a very enjoyable train and ferry home!
The good old sail and rail journey. Traveled that way for years and many of those trips were very hard work. My first trip was March 94, a 1-0 loss to Spurs. Didn`t put me off, I was back again in September to see us draw 1-1 with newly promoted Leicester.

I think mine was a game vs Sheffield Wednesday in the 90s possibly 1996?. I'd only recently got into football and decided Everton would be my team (for no real reason other than a friend followed them and I liked the kit). I'm not from Liverpool and none of my family were into football so I was amazed when my dad agreed to take me. I just remember walking up the steps and seeing the pitch for the first time, and being blown away!

I had to look this up because I remembered the opponents and the score but not much else. 1-1 against Charlton in April 1988. I remember sitting on the bar in the lower Gwladys terracing and eating highland toffees (remember them?). I remember a fella teasing me saying, ‘you don’t care about the football, you just care about the sweets.’

I remember my dad pointing at the main stand and saying, ‘that’s called a stand because they all sit down.’ Hahaha

2012 opening game of the season v Man Utd. Fellaini with the only goal of a 1-0 win. My first and only game coming from the other side of the world.
I remember that I was on my honeymoon in Sri Lanka and booked a hotel with the football on..I remember after dinner I took 4 litres of lager to bed. My now ex wife had no idea we were playing and fell asleep. She woke up when I was jumping over the bed when we scored. Also won 3-0 or 3-1 at villa during the honeymoon no idea what else we did..

That was part of my honeymoon in reality. Got married in Kelheim Germany on the Danube. From there we went back to my in-laws place in Rottweil then we went to Munich for a couple of days and then flew to Liverpool for the game and stayed there a couple of days. Then flew to Berlin for a few days and then took a train to Hamburg and stayed with the wifes sister and then the proper honeymoon in Majorca. All up it was about 2 weeks of travel that was nicely timed to fit the game in.
