Your first match at goodison

First one that I can vividly remember anyhow...for my30th b'day present after being pissed off when I found out the Cocteau Twins reunion at Coachella was cancelled, which was my planned 30th b'day present. One of the presents was considerably more expensive. We lost 10 days later on my actual b'day (April 30th) to Fulham....typical.

Literally, April 28th, 1979, also for my b'day according to dad (lets get real, it was to indoctrinate me)...I was only coming up on 4 so don't remember a 'kin thing although it was apparently a 1-0 home win against Birmingham,City, courtesy of Andy King.

This is why my b'days are a bummer if we don't win...guess I have to physically be there to get the win **bad theory alert**. Unfortunately I don't think I'll make it for my 50th due to medical bills depleting my emergency fund, which was another b'day grand plan...buh-bye Goodison.

The Everton youth cup winning team in the 1960s at Goodison - many players turned out to help us to win the title later on in the 1960s - league's games at Goodison when I was six years old cant remember as my first full side EFC game was in 1962 away to Bolton in which we won 2-0 - thousands of blues there that day in the paddock at Burden park in my late fathers arms sat on a crash barrier ..... a gang of his mates went in a Ford transit van sat on beer crates like a scene out of the GV play ..... that was so special to me being born an Evertonian ....

I think it was Chelsea and we won 3-1. The one thing that always sticks out and makes me laugh was when we got out of the car, a few young lads offered to "look after" the car for us for a fiver lol, I had heard stories but always thought they were joking
"Mind your car,please, Sir"
I'm speaking late 60s,70s....
Always answer ,no change, see you later.
Otherwise tyres were let down.

Tell you what. Feel old here, when my first game is above the majority of people.

10 August 1997

Everton 1-2 Crystal Palace

Attillio Lombardo and Bruce Dyer absolutely crucified us.

27th January 2024. Lost 2-1 to Luton in the fa cup.
A trip 30+ years in the making. Every time I had the chance to go something came up and scuppered things.
Thanks to finding NEBES, up here in Newcastle, that changed very quickly.
It was the strangest feeling, having gone to St James park with my dad a fair few times, this felt like coming home.
I've been a few more times since and hope to get down again some time soon before the grand old lady bows out.
