Yeah I agree with this. I know we have said we wanted us to identify youngsters so we can develop them, but the two areas of doubt in my mind around this particular purchase is…….a few of us have made the point re Gyokeres and it’s very fair. You wonder why they signed him if they had this kid on their conveyer belt. I wasn’t keen on us signing Gyokeres, I like him but thought top flight defenders would be comfortable marking him.
All we can hope for is that Chermiti game might suit the PL more & he can develop past Gyokeres. Chermiti is the type of player we should be acquiring but ultimately they have to be good enough to improve us and only time will tell us that. We can judge Thelwell at the end of the season on this purchase.
Dyche is the only noise coming direct from the club, so I would think he is managing fan expectations and not alerting any others who may want to compete for any signings we are trying to make. I suspect Dyche is being cautious with his words.Didn’t Dyche say nothing was imminent? Who is telling porkies here?
Yup. They absolutely are working hard behind the scenes and his talk is smoke screen. We could have had three announcements 5mins after that interviewDyche is the only noise coming direct from the club, so I would think he is managing fan expectations and not alerting any others who may want to compete for any signings we are trying to make. As I said I can't disagree with the idea but all I can say again is that we aren't in the position to have the time to develop young players. Any striker is a gamble we bought a dud in Maupay. The lad Día could be the same or score 15+ it's a real game with real players not FM. How many strikers would guarantee 15+ per season and what would they cost? Can we shop in that market?Oh but we were in that bracket.
That was Neal Maupay’s stats before he joined us.
Anyone that we can afford that fits the “proven” category, is a risk. Otherwise, why are the other team selling? (See Maupay) At least with younger players, they have an upside and could at least increase in value for a resale.
Managers rarely give anything away re transfers before they are over the lineDidn’t Dyche say nothing was imminent? Who is telling porkies here?
Imminent is a very subjective wordDidn’t Dyche say nothing was imminent? Who is telling porkies here?

Some absolute joy vacuums on here at the min who outright refuse to see a positive in anything. They were at it in the stadium thread last time I ventured in.Geeze. The guy hasn't even been seen in a blue shirt and he's already written off by the majority of posters in here...
1.other clubs can come in as they have done previously. What‘s the rush? The transfer window is open for weeks yet.
The right deal is better than a quick deal.
GrottoWe have some movement on Chermiti this week which will give us a boost to the squad especially with McNeil out for a period and Danjuma still with a niggle.
Gray transfer will surely be sorted after we play Fulham plus we have recent links in Grotto or Sulemana who are excellent attacking options plus a defensive midfielder in Martinez.
We still have Gbamin, Gomes, Holgate and possibly Maupay to ship out but if we are honest they don't directly effect out starting XI.
It's not ideal window but we all know the restrictions and budget we are working with especially with the new stadium.
The likelihood is we are going to be wheeling and dealing until the end of the window unless we can ship out one of our duds for big Saudi money.
