I assume from Joyce’s tweet that it would be chermiti and ideally another more senior striker as well?

This feels very much like a long term signing , which is great and all but also considering our short term need hope we aren’t wasting what meager funds we have on someone who won’t be a solution right now.

Che Adams.

If we got around 8 million for 22 year old, not fancied, Simms and replace him with this 19 year old for 10 - 15 million thats a smart move with lots of potential upside.

Assuming he is the replacement for Simms in the squad as we still need another striker.
£10-15m on replacing an academy player, Simms who was not thought of as good enough, that’s close to what we paid for our first team striker last season and still need one and so we just pray he’s good enough not great business when we’re apparently skint and need a first team forward still great if it works out but I don’t see it happening Moise Keane 2 this. I agree these are the type of signings we should of been getting in years ago but not blowing what little money we have on unknown kids now stinks of how desperate we are.

Sustainabilty is the keyword. Though Ancelotti brought short term "success", it costs money we dont have both in terms of fees and wages. If we made it to CL, it would be another story, but that is a very high-risk gamble which we are still paying for.

The sporting strategy needs to be aligned with real-world finances, and maybe this changes slightly after the new stadium is ready

We had one of the best managers in world football and gave him less money than Koeman and Silva due to poor planning and recruitment. Him signing Allan and James (who we offloaded after 1 season) didn't break what was already broken IMO.

Moise Kean was crap for us and we still didn’t lose any money on him. Do you think that would’ve been the case if we’d bought him as a 27 year old?

No. But we didn't gain either. PSG didn't want to buy him and Juve didn't really want to pay us so that could've gone massively the way of "loaning until his contract ran out". Those kind of deals still make it difficult for us financially.

And if you're paying £30mill for a 27 year old...I'm pretty sure you'd think he'd score some goals for that price. Or is that not good enough?

….looks slow and placid to me but I did notice he has 3 yellow cards.
