…..of course Simms will outscore Maupay but so might I and I’m 66. Maupay is not the benchmark to judge a player by. Simms nor Maupay were not selected in those crucial final games for a reason.

Those who feel Simms should be given more time would’ve had a long, long wait. He’s gone for a reason, build a bridge and get over it.

fair enough but can’t helped thinking if we didn’t spend 15m on maupet, kept simms, scores 3 to 5 goals, sell him this season at a higher price and we’ll probably find ourselves 25 to 30m richer, maybe escaping ffp and signing a 30m striker now.

Stop this please, Colin Robinson

He is highly thought of, and fits our profile of a striker

….I was the one last season posting that we should recall Simms because he’s better than Maupay but I always caveated those posts with he’s not good enough to keep. I doubt if Lampard or Dyche will have given Simms enough games to get 3-5 goals. He scored at Chelsea but never affected games coming off the bench.

Not sure about anybody else, but I was never watching and thinking “get Simms on”. It’s a good benchmark.

Comment from Sporting Lisbon colleague 'We’ve had their pants down if true. Useful squad option for us but can’t see him going on to be anything better than average'
He’s 19 and getting into their first team…Clearly their coaches see something in him. I still assume there’s a lot of upside here. Time will tell, but judging 19 year olds without seeing a path to growth is something we as a fan base also do which doesn’t make much sense.

No idea if this guy is any good. May be a gem or a total dud. No one will know until he is given a chance. One thing it does look like though is that he fits the profile of the type of striker we have set the rest of the team up to play with. Happy on that basis and if we can get one more of a similar profile, I will be happy.

Just another right winger, AM and CB to sign along with a backup GK and backup proper FB who can play either side.

United are paying 70mil for a 20 year old who scored 9 times in 32 games last season (I believe).
The market for potential is off the scale. We’re probably overpaying a bit but he wouldn’t have to do much at PL level to more than double our money in a couple of years.
