Needing or expecting him to start delivering is a bit premature imo like. How many minutes has he had, in total? When he gets a very long run of games where he's actually starting or getting more than 5 minutes here and there, then we'll have a little bit more of an idea as to how good he is. Truth be told, at times this season, he may well have been on the bench for no other reason than we have so few option.

….like all youngsters, he has to earn game time. He’ll have an opportunity to impress pre-season (and in training) but only he can force his way in. I’m sure nobody will be happier than Dyche if he does.

He wasn’t meant to be in the squad. Thelwell said last summer that he was bought for the future and Beto was bought for now. Due to our squad depth, he ended up being on the bench every game which has meant he hasn’t been playing for our U21s either. Danjuma was brought in as 3rd choice striker.

Expecting anything from a few minutes here and there is ridiculous.

….its more a question of ‘will he ever be good enough to establish himself in the team’. He didn’t come cheap and he still needs to demonstrate he’s good enough. It doesn’t automatically happen.

He’s old enough now, United had 2 19 year olds scoring in an FA Cup final yesterday. It’s a great time for him, but ultimately it’s up to him.

Mainoo has always been at United. Garnacho joined them in 2020.

Chermiti went from breaking into Sportings 1st team squad in Jan 2023 to then joining us.

Barely getting any minutes at any level of the season.

Hardly comparable.

I know it's only training and you only see small snippets, but he looks so much sharper than the other players, some of his touches are a thing of beauty

Yep. He's 2nd behind Dom for me in the pecking order and if Dom is being difficult regarding a contract then start Chermiti.

Agreed. Sort the uncertainty around Dom/Onana one way or the other and keep hold of Branthwaite and were looking like having the start of a decent squad.

He either gets the game time here or send him on loan simple as that, need to be playing competitive minutes.

He has played about 70 minutes of prem football - never a starter, Dom and even Beto still way ahead

Showed more in those 70 minutes for me that he can be a better player than Beto.

If Dom is still being difficult regarding the contract by the time the season starts and we have no other striker in then I'd give Chermiti a go. I don't want us being held to ransom by players.
